Hi guys, I have heard that it is taking longer to process OPT extension. Please let me know if you are in the same boat. My opt expires by the end of this December so I have started the process to file an extension now (My company is e-verify and I my degree falls under stem). I hope i will send the document by the end of this month. I am in the west coast so I think it will go to Nebraska service center. Has anyone applied for OPT extension recently via Nebraska Service center? How long it took? thank u for ur time...

ur employment authorization is automatically extended for 180days after the expiration date in your current EAD card if
1. you have applied for an extension on time ie before the expiration date on ur ead card and u have received a letter saying that the USCIS center has received and ACCEPTED your application.....mind the capital letters.
2. Have an update I-20 for the OPT extension that clearly states that ur degree is in stem.
if u have done this, u r authorized to work until 180 days or until u receive a letter from USCIS that ur case has been denied.
