I always hated Nepal Airlines and promised myself I would never fly. I know most of us think the same way i do, so i dont consider myself different. We recommend ppl not to fly thru it but who will if we dont after all its the flag carrier of Nepal? We ran away from our country in search of a better and prosperous future which we might be able to achieve but dont forget we will still be Nepali even though we might get a citizenship here. What ever happens back home directly affects whether sth good or bad, it will definitely bring either a smile or grin in our face. We want our economy to grow, we cant do much for that but when we visit Nepal, lets do sth that will help to flourish the economy. I know NA is a crappy airline but flying thru Qatar, Etihad, Indian , Jet, Thai will just benefit some foreigners. If we take at least one flight from NA when we visit home, it will definitely give job to our fellow brother and sisters whether they are captain, air-hostess or a sky hop.

Yes, we should support the National flag career, even if it might be little inconvinient.

you are right ..we should fly in nepal airlines only if you have a sucide wish.poor maintainence ,arrogant people and yes a shitty food are one of the compliments of nepal ailines...i used to be a regular flyer but hey pristo.....they never change.....and they will not.......untl it is privateized.

Just remember if we use our national carrier, they might be able to afford new planes. So, try from your side and hope for the best.

As soon as we change back the name to RNAC and get rid of Desh Bachuwa politicians like Chor Congress, Communist and Maoists. Haven't forgotten Lauda scandal. 

Its a great thought and very patriotic :) I just wished for one good leadership in NAC atleast to boost the tourism year.

(I do not understand what benefit did it make to get the name changed from RNAC to NAC. Its still the same, whatsoever even more worse!!)

Reasons i do not want to use Nepal Airlines:

1. Unpredictable and very limited flight schedule.

2. Airline staff's poor courtesy. (From my recent flight experience in 2008)

3. Technical defects. (I do not want to risk my life prematurely.)

4. Overall, i think if i use NA now its like paying directly to one of the dirty politician or ghooskhor NA office staff.

Reasons i want to use Nepal Airlines:

1. Gives sense of patriotism.

2. Will be fun to travel with fellow countrymen from all walks of life.

Things that can be changed:

1. . First and foremost provide quality planes and provide quality service. A good customer care like the Americans do!!!! All nepali daju bhai and bahinis need to undergo niceness training. They need to learn to be nice and professional.

2. A good leadership (Atleast western/foreign educated and someone who has seen the world. Not someone who just excels through the Loksewa exam and becomes a ghooskhor by default!!!).

3. Privatization.(But, is it possible where there is so much of deep seated infections with bribery, lack of education, no sense of discipline.)

4. Allow people to invest into NAC. This would for sure upgrade the financial status. (I do not know if this is already the case.)

5. Come up with term plans like 1 yr, 3 yr, 5 yr, 10 yr, 15 yr plans and make it transparent.

These are the few basic things that people can start working on whoever is involved with NAC. Sooner or later you will notice the change. I would love to fly with NA during my next trip to Nepal.

I don't agree with syd_acd, I would still go with the airlines, i get THE best fare from.

I would say: Nepal Airlines (NA) is the most corrupt airline organization. Every other (Buddha, Yeti etc) airlines in Nepal grew from one aircraft to many. NA is the only airline fleet that sold its plane(s) just to provide bonuses to its staff, get out of debt etc. It is full of nepotism and favoritism.

It is ok for me to give a family (typically four) discount, to the staff working in NA, but it is totally unacceptable that all the family members and their relatives enjoying overseas trips for free. Even staying in NA paid hotels, and guest houses.

I think NA needs major organizational restructure; otherwise I see your money going into the pockets of some corrupt staff as a bonus.
