Hi,

I've applied for OPT extension in mid September, a week ago they sent a letter asking additional info which I sent to them immediately. The letter also said that until they receive requested information my processing time is in halt.

My OPT expires by late December, what if by any chance I do not hear from them before my OPT expires, what will happen to my status? I work full time currently so can I continue my work until I get my extension approved?

Please give me your expert advice. I'm a bit anxious!

Once you applied for the OPT extension and once you get the receipt, your OPT will be automatically extended. Don't worry about that. You are safe. You will be in trouble only when and you have the expired OPT and your OPT extension got denied

Thanks for the quick reply. I've already got the receipt saying they have received my application.

So technically, my opt will expire late December, what will happen after the expiration date if they are still processing the application?

Goreto, what kind of additional info they asked for?

My company everify number was wrong so they asked for the correct one.

Like I said, Once you get the receipt number(which you have right now), you will be still in OPT. You can talk to your school's international office if you have any doubts.
