Some states required that the isurance company must add spouse into their policy. So if you fill up the form as married, they might need your spouse name, SSN and License number.

 I m single tara my Auto insurance goes down if i put as "married".....Will they check my information ?

 Two years ago, when i was under 25. i claimed Aishwarya Rai as my wife in my auto insurance. I am divorced Now. 

I did same thing , they will not check anything !
When they ask about my wife i said she just came in and she don't have social too ! they enlist her as non driver !

As far as I knw, they do not require SSN of your wife, you can just put your wife's name and DoB
