If you're going to Nepal for H-1B stamping, make sure you email them about the PIMS Verification so that you don't get stuck there for weeks. It's not a gurantee but a possiblity that they might add your petition in PIMS which will make your life lot easier.
Here's the sample email you should send to US EMBASSY IN KATHMANDU.

I am scheduled to appear for visa (H1B ) interview at US EMBASSY KATHMANDU.
In order to avoid any delay in the process I would like you to check my information in PIMS and if required please do make a request on my behalf to get my information added. I have attached a copy of my petition (I-797). Thanks in advance for your time and help.

GOOD LUCK

PURANA KAGAZ.

PURANA KAGAZ have emailed them, or do you know some one who has emailed the Embassy and got a reply. coz i had done it myself last year three times before i went for my H1b stamping and they did not replied. And on the visa day they said my PIMS needs to be verified and has to wait 2 weeks to get my passport back.
Can be only mine case...

A close friend of mine did the same thing and got the following replies from US Embassy kathmandu.

First Reply after 2 days:
Petition does not appear in PIMS. We have sent a request; it takes at least 2 business days after the request is sent, for a petition to appear in the system. For additional information please read attachment.

Second Reply after about a week:
Dear Mr. xxx, Your Petition is now on PIMS.

Later, Successful stamping without any delay.

Hope it's helpful to some of you.

@the_hareeb I think you are talking about I129 ( = H1b Petition )

I had following list when I went for stamping and I guess it is enough.

1) I-797 original. Don't forget to surrender the all I-94s, from all H1 approval notices and original I94 on arrival.
Nobody will ask to give I-94 but need to leave it on airlines counter.
2) LCA,I-129  ( this you will get from your HR or your lawyer , you must take this, it might include whole H1b application packet copy)
3) W-2s
4) tax return forms EZ-1040
5) employment verification letter, offer letter ( I also had a letter from my HR to the embassy )
6) pay stub for 3-4 months

good to carry but not necessary to submit:

7) old I-20s
8) good to carry OPT card, ssn, license.

@Purana Kagaaz: First of all, thanks tons for bringing this awesome useful thread.  I have few questions on h1b stamping in ktm which are listed below.

1. Is there anyway that we can schedule an interview appointment online? When i look online at US embassy website of Nepal, it says that we have to deposit some $160 in nabil bank along with the attached confirmation page? My plan is to schedule an interview in 1/2 days i reached there so that i have enought time if delayed.

2. How early can we ask for PIMS verification? What is the email that we need to send?

3. Tax bhareko W2 form h1b huda ko matra pataune ho ki pahila college paddako pani pataune ho. Pahile samajik use gariyo so hope pahila ko W2 chahidine hola :-()

@Birey: Same tax question goes to you as well. Pahila college huda ko chahincha ra???

Now about the I-94s, Do we also need to submit the I-94 that we get when our h1b is approved. Please clarify.

Thanks

  - you can only fill online form but cannot take appointment online. To take appointment you can do it only through the Nabil bank in front of American embassy.
- you can however send someone with your documents and pay the fees and get the confirmation page / appointment.
- early appointment is needed for embassies where there is a huge queue. In peak time like this where there are maximum no of F1 , GC, visitor visa etc, in KTM embassy the wait time is 2 or 3 days. So it's not a big deal to get the date.

@sirus_me bro, I also feared the same and wanted to get early date so that if there is any delay there is enough cushion. If you have full time job then you should not worry( I suggest ).

2. How early can we ask for PIMS verification? What is the email that we need to send?  I dont know about PIMS verification. It never bothered me. But you can always email embassy and ask if it is needed. They do reply in a day or two.

3. Tax bhareko W2 form h1b huda ko matra pataune ho ki pahila college paddako pani pataune ho. Pahile samajik use gariyo so hope pahila ko W2 chahidine hola :-()

-> Compulsory - W2 and tax return forms that you have paid all taxes ONLY after you got H1B , before that might not matter and they would not care, but they do look everything carefully of all tax documents that are after your H1B became active. So I guess you need not worry about college W2s and college tax returns. I had it so i kept it but I was asked only from the taxes I paid when I was in H1B. It actually helped, after seeing that I have paid taxes for the whole year the interview questions suddenly started becoming positive :).

@sauravcn: I am also on same situation. My(company's) lawyer said, since they have some rejected case with them, it is not recommended to leave US without stamp on passport.(Since they mainly deal with Indian, it could be difficult for Indian only too).

Do you guys know if is it risky to go Nepal for stamping, specially for IT consultant? Do you guys know if there are any rejected cases for Nepali?

Tax documents of the time after you were in H1b. Stamping is for your H1B visa and they have time only to look for precisely H1B documents. So, if you had worked on H1B in 2010 or before then you should have the w2s and tax filing copies of those. Not to worry what you did before you were in H1B.

you can ask any questions at email id here http://nepal.usembassy.gov/visas/non-immigrant-visas.html  ( at bottom paragraph )

Remember: Embassy is there to help you and not to trouble you. If you have been maintaining lawful status and you are working in H1B lawfully, they will be more than happy to assist you in your stamping.

I thinkif you have paid tax, you'd need to show your tax return and w2s even if your H1 did not started.

Tax documents show that you are valuable to USA and it will help your case.

People may or may not have any tax paid before being in h1so I guess "before H1b" might not be mandatory but they'd ask if you had been in OPT or had been working in OPT, if you have worked, they'd asd about your tax documents. They can find out easily if you have worked or not on OPT, so if you do not have your tax documents at that point then that might cause some problem. That's why all this trouble would be worth. :)

I printed my LCA (application) from my email as my lawyer has forwarded a copy to my email as well. Does it need to be sign by the CEO of my company again as I did when apply for H1-B or it will work withput the signature.

you only need a "copy" of everything that was submitted during your H1B application.

Do you(Purana Kagaz) or any of you have any idea if we can request them to have PIMS on their system even before getting the appointment. I am planning to go to Nepal on Sep and I may get the appointment any days during the Sept. Can I still request them to have PIMS ready on their system? Or I need to make an appointment before requesting them?
