I got a speeding ticket 48 on 30MPH, 18 miles over the speed limit. COPS tracked me down thru the speeding meter device. Is there anyway I can defend it ? I need to pay 106(speeding cost)+65(court fee)=$171 if I don't want to go to the court. Is there any kinds of excuse so I can use @ court ? Is there any chances to increase the fine($171) if I go to the court ? Please advice.

Well there is nothing you can do but you can refuse to pay Speeding ticket but you still will need to pay court fee and take Defensive driving course . Give them call and see if you can do so if you don't want to go to court.

Are you a F1 student? if so then go to the court and tell the judge that you can't afford to pay the ticket because you come from a poor country where $1 = Rs 72 and that you are not allowed to work fulltime, 40hrs, outside campus to make that kind of money. Instead ask the judge to give you work permit so that you can work outside legally and pay off the fine. Maybe this way the judge will lower the fine if not exempt it all? goodluck and keep us posted Brah!

i have several tickets on speeding. u cant defeat them on this case there is no way. just pay fine and stay away from court thing (if u dont go court u can just pag 106 ). u can take some classes and stay away from fine too but it will cost you more time plus court fee . you can ask for more time to pay money though.
@chaurey, i dont think that idea goona work bro. u cant just ask them work permit like that. thats all immigration thing and judge cant just rule over o n that.

If this is your only ticket in the past 12 years, make sure you signed up for a 'defensive driving course' because it will prevent the points from showing up and save you big $$ when it comes to insurance premium. You can go to the court but there's no way you're gonna get waived.

Depends on which state you are ....You can take online class and present your 6hours Defensive driving certificate to court which will cost another 20-25 bucks.

Whilst taking the class withing 6 months of the ticket date will help prevent the points appear on your driving record, it won't be helping your causes for the ticket fine uncofortunately. You must be living in a sparsely populated ticket. If you were in California or elsewhere, you'd have been looking into a mandatory speeding class, court date and the ticket fine of at least $300.

King bro, Court cost is 110 and driver record request is 12 dollars. Defensive driving costs around 25. I did mine from defensivedriving.com

I think it depends upon your previous driving record and the prosecutor. One of my friend who got speeding ticket recently at New Hamshire got fine waived and ticket put on the file. He did not pay the imposed fine and went to the court. On the court date he met the prosecutor and he was offered a deal. The deal was like this, his ticket will be put in the file and if he does not get any new ticket for another 6 months then ticket will go away automatically and interesting thing is that he neither had to pay the fine nor had to take the defensive driving course. I had seen his ticket he also was accused of speeding 48 mph at 30 mph. He talked to the lawyer and lawyer suggested him first to go to the DMV and ask them whether they will put your ticket on the file after paying fine and taking driving test if not then go to the court and talk to the prosecutor before his court date. He tried to call them but could not meet so on the court date he met the prosecutor and he was offered that deal. It might depend on the attitude of the prosecutor and also your luck. I also was told by some of my friend that some time at the court the accusing police officer does not show up and the ticket is dismissed. But this could be risky bussiness.
I think you have two options here firstly go to DMV and pay fine and take a defensive driving course secondly go to court and get a deal or fight. Whatever you decide, good luck my friend.
