ANA ELECTION (2011-2013) CANDIDATE’S NINE-POINT MANIFESTO & PROFILES
Dear Voters and well wishers
We hold the belief that ANA (Association of Nepalese in Americas) is a common platform to unify around two hundred thousand Nepalese people living in North America.
With this belief, we held several joint discussions on the democratic aspirations of ANA and the role we could play as elected members of this glorious body of Nepalese Diaspora in North America and reached to a conclusion as to how we can materialize our dreams more productively to promote the interests of Nepali community in a home away from their home.
As a result of our discussions, we, as the candidates for several ANA posts for the upcoming democratic elections going to be held on August 6, 2011, want to jointly announce our commitments to abide by the following nine-point manifesto:
- We realize that ANA needs a supreme mechanism to operate its plan of action in a way to make it more accessible and understandable for the common public by rendering its operation more scientific and transparent. With this realization, we declare our commitments to establish ANA National Representative Council as an umbrella organization of all Nepalese organizations in North America as well as other non-profit organizations. This Council will consist of two members from each such organization, including a member from among those personalities who have made a remarkable contribution in social sector, as recommended by each of these organizations.
- We participate in the election with a motto “ANA for all Nepalese, and all Nepalese for ANA” with a view to nurture this organization as a fair and transparent social organization.
- We will see into Boston Convention economic issues and work towards redressing any unfair use of funds. We will also form a Funds Operation Committee in the recommendation of ANA and the organizing committee in order to make sure that the ANA funds are used fairly and more transparently in future.
- In order to introduce Nepal and Nepali community in a respectable way in North America, we will forward effective and inclusive economic, social, and multi-cultural programs in coordination and cooperation with various social organizations at local-levels by announcing yearly plan of action as soon as we get elected in ANA.
- We will form various sister organizations of ANA, especially in the fields of health, education, sports, culture, and participation of women, consisting of the representatives from different quarters of Nepalese society. We will also further extend the Student Assistance Fund in order to help the Nepalese student community in North America.
- We will establish an ANA Relief Fund for providing prompt assistance to the victims of various calamities that may arise in Nepal.
- We will announce ANA programs in the form of annual package, and also form various sub-committees under the supervision of the Executive Committee for an effective implementation of such programs.
- We will hold a provision on behalf of ANA to highly appreciate and honor the achievements and contributions of Nepalese people and organizations in different sectors of their lives.
- We will direct our efforts towards establishing a harmonious diplomatic relationship between Nepal and North America through educational and cultural exchange programs.
Lastly, we would like to highly appreciate ANA Interim Committee, Election Committee, Trustee Board, and all the former ANA office bearers, for their remarkable role to lead ANA to this glorious stage, and want to further respect their valuable contributions during our term of office.
