Nepal and India are only the countries where recism/castism is extreme and it will never go away. It is a part of religion, culture and society. It is in the blood.

Forget about nation as a whole. Look at only within a Newar community. The castism, upper cast lower cast, is always a part of community even though everyone practices the same religion in the same Tole and district.

Don't think too much. We have to live with this.

Hindu religion and its four caste system are the real reason why Maoists started the People's War. Nepal will be stuck as the most pathetic place on earth without seeking an end to the culture and mindset they bring forth. The society, and the sense of priority are all messed up. And some so-called journalists of Nepali origin working abroad claim Nepal should be proud of its history. The day has clearly proved how abysmally the morning had started. Nepal's history is not too far from that metaphor.

Hindu dharma nowhere recommends segregation and division based upon caste. First off, caste is profession based. It's the con-men in hinduism who took advantage of caste system for their own benefit. And people do not be premature to stigmatize hinduism only: look how many gypsies are killed even today by so called civilized Christians in Europe. Do you give any F@k about that?

Just started reading Bhagwad Gita, it's awesome. It explicitly says one who does not have any Vedic knowledge is sudra. A bahun is sudra if he lacks Vedic knowledge, a sudra is arya if he possesses knowledge of Vedas. So, where is hinduism disparaging lower castes? A bahun is bahun by birth, that's problematic and it should and will change with time. 

BTW, I do not think castism is that bad in Nepal now compared to was 10-15 years ago. It's just a matter of time before castism becomes non-existent. Do not blame and wait for others, if you want to change the society why not to start from yourself? Just start to marry and intermingle with so-called lower castes. If you can't and still rant about castism you are a sore hypocrite. Discussion like this should not exist.

Christian using the cast system against Hinduism. If these Christian practice cast system then what makes different  and why they are converting to Christianity ? 

@magorkhe, south asian people,be it hindu,muslim or christian ,all have caste system. read the other post about tmissionaries.
japan had a caste/class system before the maiji restoration where u should as a low caste farmer kneel on roadside when a samurai caste man/woman pass by.
the europeans had a class segregation for 3-4 centuries but couldnt go longer to galvanise into caste system.
the gurungs have 4 jaate elites vs other lower gurungs,magars have rana/thapa magar elite jats against the others,newars have caste system.the kiratis have the landlords casts like subba,dewan,rai .

IN INDIA LARGE # OF PEOPLE GET KILLED FOR MARRYING/DATING/TRYING TO MARRY IN TO DIFFERENT CAST ,,,,, BUT IN NEPAL I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYONE BEING KILLED FOR THE SAME REASON
