Do you plan to drive or take metro?
How long of a commute can you take?
W/O knowing those, I'd say Alexandria or Arlington in NOVA area would work for you.

For investment, you can't go wrong with Falls Church, Fairfax, Vienna, Arlington, or anywhere really close to DC area. If you find a place nearby metro, thats a plus! Good luck with house hunting!
