Police respond to the shooting in College Station. (KBTX)
A shooter has been apprehended by police near the Texas A&M campus in College Station, the university reported Monday.
According to KCEN-TV, six people, including two police officers, were shot near about a block away from the school's campus. A local newspaper called The Eagle, citing audio from police scanners, also reported two officers were wounded in the apparent shootout.
A spokeswoman for the College Station Police Department told KBTX-TV that says "there are no confirmed fatalities at this point" and that there is "no longer a danger to the public."
A member of KBTX-TV film's crew said at least one of the shooting victims was a police officer.
Texas A&M issued an alert on its website just before 12:30 p.m. on Monday warning of an active shooter near the campus football stadium, according to the Associated Press.
