Thesedays all over facebook there are people taking selfies with earthquake victims which makes me wonder how narcissistic have we become?

These people just lost the lives of their near and dear ones. They have lost everything they have worked all their lives for. They don't have a place to call their house and they are not sure what they are going to eat tomorrow and here you are, probably trying to help out to the best of your ability, but you cannot resist that selfie. You have to post it on facebook to show what a hero you are. It gives you perfect opportunity to show the world what a model citizen you are.

Really? You really want to post a selfie with those devasted people to blow your own horn?

You really dont see similarity between you and those people taking selfie? I some how feel  more hypocrisy in you than in those people.

How can a person with little brain n heart take a selfie in that situation? I have seen some people taken a picture of distributing reliefs without notice which is absolutely fine but selfie ? That's inhumane and disrespectful.

In a way there is nothing inhuman. Any thing human can do, are doing are human activities, whether you like it or not. Whole thing reflects in what direction society is evolving. It shows what is becoming important in society. We like to be liked. We like to get likes, supported, thumped up, recognized. We like to be first, no matter what. In every thing we do, we have some kind twisted motive. Simple, uneducated, dumb people show it directly which we so called educated and mostly living in some other countries far from Nepal like to ridicule making ourself better and superior.

Paradox your logic does not make any sense. Selfie means you are promoting yourself with your face. My nickname in sajha is anonymous so there is no self here and there is no promotion. I think you are ticked off because you probably have taken some selfies with the earthquake victims so you are trying to justify your own selfish actions by trying to negate my opinion. It seems like a lot of others share my feelings. So go look at your face in the mirror and flush your narcissism down the toilet.

On a positive note, I hope the pictures will inspire others to donate (with or without pictures). At other times, I would have complained. At this time, I feel happy to see photos of people donating.

Your id here represents you or you identify yrself with your ID. When somebody agrees with your post here most likely you feel justified to your view, thinking which initself is some kind self enhancement of ego (personality). Whether somebody recognize you or not, end result is similar, self promotion, justification of something.

You said since more people here agree with you, so you saying i am wrong and and you are right. This is exactly what i am trying to convey to you. Who am i to decide what people are doing is good or bad? What they are doing (most of the people around the globe are in same page in different form including you) reflects the present society. You are judging people for their behavior with similar behavior and you dont see it which is hypocrisy. Ask those people who are taking selfie if they think they are doing wrong?

I guess you are entitled to your opinion. From your logic however it would seem that, if someone saw that people were eating shit and if he said eating shit is not good for you, then you would say 'you are eating shit molecules in the air as soon as you open your mouth.'

paradox, of course you can decide whether people are doing is good or bad. that is called having an opinion. opinions could vary according to individuals. but i personally do not see any correlation with selfie with earthquake victimts and rethinks opinion about it.

Thats the point fanatic! Opinion depends on the person on his background, conviction, whim, situation, mood, language, culture, upbringing and so on. Your opinion is yr background (but there are other twisted things as well, such as we are some thing but would like to appear something else making it even more meaning less). So it is better give opinion in such a way that you stating yr conviction, desire, motive without judging whether other people are right or wrong. Opinions are never right or wrong. Opinions are just conditioned response of chaotic mind.

Back to the topic: as a donor living abroad I want proof that the donation reached the victims and pictures give me a proof of that. Does it have to be a selfie? No. But I definitely want pictures.
