Just wanted to know what kind of savings you guys have. Just wanted to know how i am doing compared to other folks.

been working in US for 5 years, i don't have any personal property in Nepal. I mean we have a family house but i am not counting that as my personal property. About $30K in 401K  and $50K in savings account. So roughly about $80K total but no property. Still renting. Am i on a good track ? Got married recently so had to spent a good chunk of savings otherwise had close to $100k.

Would be nice if you guys don't mind sharing how you guys have been saving. Maybe i can learn something better.

Why do you have $50K in your savings account? Invest and diversify your portfolio. If you're not comfortable/confident, invest in indexed mutual funds. Don't let money sit there without yielding any return.

Wow. That is great. How long have you been in US. I have been in US for 8 years. 6 years for bachelors and masters. 2 years since working. Financial status - still $12000 on credit. Car also finance. Living pay cheque to pay cheque. Professional job paaiyera ni kei bhayena mero ta... dukha ko kura..

Me, us 8 years, working 5 years, sent to Nepal 20K, two cars paid off but money wise still around 0, still renting. so you are doing pretty good saving.

त्येस्पची म नि पैसा सेव गर्छु भनेर कस्सिएको नि महिनौ भैसक्यो. कहाँ खर्च गर्ने, कहाँ जोगाउने थाह नपाको हो कि हात मा पैसा नटिकेको हो, भुत्रो नि सेव गर्न सक्या छैन. न नेपाल पैसा पठाको छ, न बच्चा बच्ची नै छ. न अरु कुनै जिम्मेवारी. खै कसरि जोगाउने भन्या पैसो?

11 yrs in US, spent 5 years for bachelor degree, 2 yrs for Masters. Been working for 4 years. 1 paid house, 1 small (almost paid) investment house, 40K savings/emergency, no car loan.

I feel like US market is little overextended right now so don't feel safe to invest. But i will be looking into it in future but not right now.

House katti ko ho tyesma ni depend garcha ni ta. Ani tyo Bharatiya muluk ko manchey ley 1.5 million dollar ko ghar chaai kina liya rey ni , simplicity ko kura garya haina. I don't understand why you wanna eat crap , wear crap but live in a 1.5 Million house. Paisa kamauney ho kharcha garna laai. Ali ali savings ma raakhney ho, 401 K , health insurance and enjoy life.

Been in US since 2 years on B2 visa apply for asylum still pending working on Gas station 20k send in Nepal have around 45k in saving and checking account age 30 plus single....

bahira gayera (Nepali ra Chinese, dherai Nepali le khane thau) restaurant ma khadai ma thulo vaiena paraozzy bro. Manche le afulai je mitho lagcha, je le faida garcha tehi khanchan. Ghar ma roti saag,dahi, achar CRAP hai. Nepali haru Nepal ma tehi khana napayera America aune dherai chaan.

Ani arko kura, roti, saag, dahi kharchai nagarikana aucha ki kya ho? 1.5 million dollar ma basda life enjoy nahune, paisa kharcha nahune jasto po kura garchan keta haru.

As far as I am concerned enjoyment of life should be proportional , not just one aspect of it. Sabai ko aafno aafnai priorities huncha. Aba tapai laai 1.5 million ko gharma basney maanchey laai hareyk din lunch ma saag, achaar ra roti khayeko sunda , aaha ma ni yestai garna parla jasto laagcha bhaney mero bhannu kehi chaina. 'CRAP' word mailey 1.5 million dollar ko ghar saga ko relation ma use garya ho. Dahi, saag achaar malai ni man parcha. Hajur ko chitta dukhayeko ma maafi paau. Hami Nepali ra Indian ma yehi 1 ota kura farak chha. Hami kaha bata ayeko bhanera birsanchau ra aalo khayera peda ko dhaak launa ma bestha hunchau. Bro chitta dukhayeko haina. Ma ta jhan din dinai roti, saag khana paye khusi hunthe. Pakaune time nabhayera bahira kinera khanu parira chha. Ani 1.5 million ko ghar nahune/thulo thulo kura garne lai thulo hola, ahile ko US housing market ma ra hard working/educated manche ko lagi not a big deal.

Your $$ will lose value if you just let it sit there. Set aside a small portion for an emergency fund but you'll most likely gain significantly more than your current returns in savings account which is next to nil!

Iam impressed by suraj nepali. Been in us only for two years and saved almost 65k that too working in gas station! How did you manage to do that? You have to at least save like more than 2500$ per month to make that much money in two years. Hats off man
