Is there a way to cash out your cryptos while you are in Nepal. Lets say, i have few cryptos that I'm holding off for long term in my cold wallet. After 5 years, if i wish to sell some, would i be able to do that in Nepal. I purchased those here in the USA quite a while back, and I do not want to sell those right away. What would be my options?

Please accept my apology in advance if i am on different track while answering your question. As of now, Govt of Nepal has banned all the crytpo currency mining or exchange and the Govt officials can hand cuff you and put you in the prison for just having some digital currency. That's just insane. After 5 years, you will also have the bank account in USA, correct? if that's the case you can just convert your currency through the exchange and put the money in your bank account and use it while you are in Nepal, though the transaction fee as well as the finance charge seems to be quite high, although it's not a big deal, i think.... Hope i did answer your question, if not again please accept my apology for not understanding the question

@pokharelsan - Thank you brother for your humble opinion. I was trying to avoid using US Institution if at all possible, esp due to the tax reporting requirements. It's not to avoid tax, but because the reporting requirements is way difficult to meet. (every single exchange, trade, cost/sell price, etc, would have to be reported line by line, and these exchanges don't even give you any 1099s that would simplify any of those)

About time we had a crypto discussion in sajha , good going folks. Regarding the Crypto and nepal issue , I think if you consolidate all of the coins to one platform like let's say ETH or BTC you can minimize the tax reporting headache. Regarding my recommendations, I'm a strong believer in token-based application and believe it to be the future. Besides that, I think privacy coins will also have a real-world application going forward thus has more potential. Monero and Zcoin is my thing for now. I'm looking into NAV(2 chain privacy) as well.

Overview
1. Sign up for Coinbase and buy Bitcoin.
2. Sign up for Binance.
3. Send your Bitcoin from Coinbase to Binance.
4. On Binance, exchange your Bitcoin[1] for XRP[2].
Step by Step
1. Sign up for Coinbase
·
Go to Coinbase and sign up. You’ll need to
verify your email, phone number, and bank account.
·
Then, go to Coinbase.com/buy. After choosing your payment
source and how much you want to buy, click Buy Bitcoin.
2. Sign up for Binance
·
Go to Binance and
sign up for an account.
·
Verify your email.
3. Send Bitcoin from Coinbase to Binance
·
Log in to your Binance
account.
·
On the top of the
screen, hover over Funds and click Deposits
Withdrawals.
·
One the next page, you
will see many rows of cryptocurrencies. Find the Bitcoin row
and click the corresponding deposit button.
·
Now, go to Coinbase.com/accounts and
click “Send” under your Bitcoin wallet.
·
Paste your BTC
Deposit Address (which you just copied from Binance) in the Enter
a BTC Address field.
·
Enter your desired
send amount, and press Continue to send your Bitcoin to
Binance.
·
To see whether this
transaction has completed, go to Binance Transaction History. It can take 1–3
minutes for the transaction to appear, and 10–30 minutes for it to be fully
confirmed.
4. On Binance, exchange your Bitcoin for XRP
·
Go to Binance’s
BTC–XRP exchange: www.binance.com/trade.html?symbol=XRP_BTC (P.S.
This page may look complicated. Hang in there!)
·
In the middle of the
page you will see a chart. Just below the chart, there is an interface (below).
If Limit is selected, then click Market.
·
After the Market tab
is selected, click 100% (this means “convert allof the Bitcoin in
my Binance account into XRP”).
·
Then click Buy
XRP.
·
To view your newly
purchased XRP, go back to the Deposits/Withdrawals page on Binance.

It use to take a while few months ago but also depends on how busy the site is, recenlty it has been pretty slow so it shouldnt have taken that long. I hope you copied and pasted the code in right spot. Also, check your gdax and see if the status of the coin.

I didn’t do google authorization part which I just now did. Amount on profile was showing previously now it doesn’t show anymore after google authorization log in. I checked my Coinbase it still shows the transaction complete for the amount I transferred but 0 on binance account now. Does the verification like uploading DL/ID also requires?

@State of Nepal: I guess you will be good to go now. May be will take an hour before it will show up in your binance account. It's not mandatory in binance as far as a I know, i may be wrong too.. What Alt coins are you planning to get in binance?

@stateofnepal , can you paste your hash of the transcation or your public address(wallet address) of whatever you transferred. You should be able to track your block chain here at. https://blockchain.info/ Also , your wallet address is public so dont worry about sharing that with others. As far as the trading goes , I day trade frequently and HODL few coins that I think are going to be big. xrp / neo / nav /ZCL I think are the future.

ALso for all you newbs, DO NOT use coinbase to transfer. Login to GDAX (gdax.com) and transfer from there. Transfer fees in GDAX is lot cheaper than coinbase and it uses the same login as coinbase. If you are trying to get into altcoins , buy ether and trade with ether instead of BTC. ether network cost are lot cheaper and faster.
