By RENAE REINTS February 11, 2019 Immigrants from Honduras and Nepal filed a class action lawsuit against the United States government Monday, alleging that the Trump administration’s decision to end the temporary protected status for these immigrants was “motivated by racial animus.” The temporary protected status program allows individuals from certain countries to legally live and work in the U.S. if they are not safe in their own country due to armed conflict, natural disaster, or other such circumstances. The Trump administration has moved to end this designation for many countries, arguing conditions have improved. A judge blocked the administration’s efforts to end this program for the 300,000 people from El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Sudan currently living in the U.S. under TPS, but the October decision left out more than 100,000 immigrants from Honduras and Nepal. Many of these people came to the U.S. at a young age and have established lives. “TPS holders from Nepal and Honduras have over 50,000 U.S.-citizen children,” states the lawsuit. “These children, many of whom are school-aged, face an impossible choice between leaving the only home they have ever known and growing up without one or both of their parents.” The suit—which names Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, former deputy secretary Elaine Duke, the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. government as defendants—says the Trump administration “reviewed TPS designations with the goal of removing non-white, non-European immigrants from the United States.” “DHS was directly influenced by the White House and its racist immigration policies, and it made decisions regarding TPS terminations on that unlawful basis,” it continues. The suit was filed by six immigrants and two of their American-born children in federal court in San Francisco, the Associated Press reports. Honduras was designated for TPS in 1999 following a devastating hurricane, and under the Trump administration, the DHS set the program to expire in January 2020. Nepal was designated in 2015 following a severe earthquake, but the program will terminate in June 2019. http://fortune.com/2019/02/11/honduras-nepal-sue-tps/

"The temporary protected status program allows individuals from certain countries to legally live and work in the U.S. if they are not safe in their own country due to armed conflict, natural disaster, or other such circumstances." What is going on in Nepal currently, or in the last three years, that falls under one of these categories? - Armed conflict - Natural disaster - Other such circumstances

@Itahariko, just a casual term for any dysfunctional country, if you have learned little bit of everyday American language. But I agree they aren't shithole countries (and certainly wasn't used for Nepal or Honduras), they are perfectly fine countries. So, let's not give them this 'protection'.

The complaint filed alleges that, in terminating TPS for Honduras and Nepal, political appointees in the Department of Homeland Security deliberately ignored recommendations from U.S. Ambassadors and evidence of conditions on the ground. Instead, they predetermined that TPS must be terminated to further the President’s “America First” policy, which seeks to exclude non-white, non-European immigrants. The complaint recites a litany of racist statements made by President Trump in reference to Latin American and South Asian countries and immigrants, including referring to immigrants as snakes and animals, mispronouncing Nepal as “nipple,” and faking an Indian accent in imitation of Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi. Nippalis from Nipple in Amrika. Good luck! I will promite tourism in my country, pay taxes in my country, be rich myself and make my country rich while you nippalis in Amrika keep banging your head for TPS just to earn some kaile napugne money to wipe Trump baje’s Ass.

Every Country has the right to act or set their policy based on their interest don't you think so, or is that don't apply some country and not for other ? Can you put yourself as American and think from their prospective and may be your reasoning will change ? I think Nepal does the same thing put their interest first right ? just a thought not sure we we are crying like a baby ?

@Yeap: If you don't support Nepali people and/or their agendas, why are you even here? Go hang out with your white friends and pretend to act like how American you have become with your fake a$$ accent to fit in. You don't belong among us. Please leave. M000ji tero green card cha bhandai maa aruko ramro bhayeko pani herna nasakne. Thukka khaate!

So just coz he was born in rich and powerful country it gives him right to label third world countries a shithole because they need help? Then all those who are not born rich are shithole people ? It may be a casual term for Americans(just his view) by birth but sitting on a country that was built by immigrants he should carefully choose his word.
BTW suing is not against America, it the administration that has biased views for poor nations.
