bulke ------ my cousin used to say that i am bulke like when the stove is on high, the water just itches to boil over. she saw the restlessness shimmering on my being. my american friend joked: but i see no hot stove on your asz. she asks- so bulke means fickle? - not fickle; it means... bulke --- mG.

After Watching "The Motorcycle Diaries" ----------------------------------------------- maybe restlessness is the universal disease. maybe restlessness is the universal medicine. i need no cure but the open road through, the mountains snowy, the fields green, the women enticing, the road curving through the valleys, under the pine trees - a perfect canopy of light and shade of the late afternoon sun. drowsy, tired and yet excited; there is more behind the next turn. because sometimes the road is the destination. Che said : we are travelling for the sake of travelling. maybe restlessness is aimless curse. maybe restlessness is indeed an eye-opening blessing. --- (10-19-04) mG.

the hallowed ground ------------------------- we lay in the dark on the soccer ground in sanothimi and watched the planes take off and land at TIA. "what would you want the air-hostess to bring?" "they have great food on international flights..." i would say i am not hungry anymore. i would look out the window and bid farewell to this field of our escape dreams. --- mG. (10/22/04)

Open Road -------------- I. Your eyes are restless too. Road trips? Destination unknown? I took one last month. As I drove through the dark night I could not see beyond my headlights. But the earth opened up for me. I could have gone on till I met the sea And further. But I stopped in Denver. That was the plan. II. The road snaked away from under me Under the pine tree canopy. As my friends slept I saw the last curve Of the sun dying on the valley. There are nets holding rocks on those mountains. Rocky Mountains are, in fact, quite rocky. Our hearts are restless rocks too Held back by the mundane conformity nets. But next time I will once again stretch it to the seams. And go farther West. Maybe to Boise, Idaho. Or Santa Fe! Yeah, maybe to Santa Fe. --- (09/25/04) mG. ty redstone. ty preeti.

Been reading yor pieces for the past few days! scintillating and titillating as always :). You bring back vivid memories with simplistic choice of words, yet very passionate. Keep them coming buddy ! Road trips are such a treat. I went on one this summer for the first time in my life and it was just out of this world. There's so much more to life than just studying, partying, and having mushy mushy relationship :). There's so much to discover, see and do....and that keeps me ticking i guess. btw, i am lil bogged down lately..will be a free bird soon. Is your number the same? shoot me an email or sth...can catch up with old times again!

Fall ---- I could use in the open parking lot but I park under the honey locust tree. It has been misty the last couple of days. My windshield is covered by the red and the orange leaves. My best friend's name is Hemant. Roger, my mentor, wanted a Nepali name. I called him Hemant. "And Hemant means?" he inquired. - Autumn. "That's British English!" he chuckled. Yes. But leaves fall the same everywhere. ---- mG. (10-23-2004)

shiven -------- Shiven did not think about me that much when I left. He told me that he did not even think about me at all. He did not drop a tear. Then he saw the cricket bat lying on the corner. Our bat, that we had cured; we knew its sweet spots. I have never hit a six but many fours. Shiven was a finesse batsman. We knew that bat. We may never play together again. ---- mG.(10-22-04)

Impending Depression --------------------------- I wish I won the Powerball before the first snowstorm so I could move to Australia for this winter. deja vu again... all i can see of last november decemeber january february is the dreary greyness slush squishing under my canvas shoes i tired of scraping the snow piled high on the windshield my hands numb, my lips windburned my sleepless eyes watery in the morning chill... And when I turned the ignition, the car did not start. Life stopped in a soul-shivering inertia. This year Maxi is with me. I will curl under my blanket; her soft muzzle breathing warmth on my cheeks. --- mG.(10-25-04)

ECSTASY OF WINTER Winter fall all through the night I find my warmth by the fireside No matter what the heat gives The hearth is still cold I find death in your eyes Damp with rain or tears They need the warmth of fire A lick or kiss, a gun or a pyre I could rest by the fireside And forget about the truth Fire is filled with memories And the winter still haunts me Still the winter falls over me Fire licks the wood away Who could hear their cries The winter is more forgiving copyright bhatte The fire glows bravely Safe in security Winter falls more freely Freedom is what we need

Big Picture In the all-encompassing design of humanity's fabric: my secrets are not that mysterious, my passions are not that passionate, my crimes are not that vile, my worth is neither that precious nor worthless, my blessings are not that grand, my dreams are not that fantastical, my poems are not that poetic... --- mG.(10-26-04)
