King Gyanendra to make Royal Announcement (Kantipuronline)

KATHMANDU, Feb 1 - King Gyanendra is to address the nation later this (Tuesday) morning. An official notice by the Press Secretariat of the Royal Palace said the King will issue a "Royal Announcement" at 10 a.m.(4:15 UT) Tuesday morning.
It is not clear what the announcement will deal with. However, it comes at a time when there is intense speculation over holding of elections.

On Monday evening, King Gyanendra met Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba followed by separate meetings with heads of different security wings .

Maybe some of our in-house experts could make some prediction as to what he might say?

I guess he is going to announce election dates on the grounds that all three govt after his ascend to the thrown were useless ,he has no option than to go to elections or bring back army regime he wont bring back army regime becoz that can prove counter productive specially all the student wings of the political parties pressurising their umbrella org. to go for republicanism...well lets wait n see..its just after an hour...

My guess:

1. Declaration of election: The Iraq factor might be at work. If they can hold election in Iraq why not in Nepal? Election could also be a handy stick to beat Maoist and tame political parties. And as bonus, most, if not all, Raj Parishad walla haru will be elected. Then who dares to ridicule them as Shahi Jokers ! The Maoist possible misadventure in the form of increased violence might only help government to isolate Maoists nationally and internationally. Then who cares the body count of GARIB Nepali?

2. Sacking of Deuba: Only problem is designing a new political lexicon to label him. But there is also possibility of keeping Deuba as new role such as senior minister in the cabinet to be headed by King G.

I hope I am wrong.

King's meetings with the security chiefs and the chief's direction to keep the armed forces in alert, hint that 2017 is going to repeat. Mere change of PM wouldn't require such an arrangement.

Hope nothing bad happens a country that has already seen her worse.

I hope nothing goes bad..or whatever happens...its good for the nation.

I will make my guess based on two assumptions,

1. Deuba is totally intimidated by the power of the King. Gyanendra will never find anybody easier yet legitimate pawn for public consumption than Deuba is.

2. The best thing for Gyanendra to happen is the failure or the cases to show as a failure of attempted election. There is no better time than this for him.

So I will not be surprised if Gyanendra keeps Deuba and ask him to go for the election. This of course if Gyanendra is as "not stupid" as one of Veteran Sajhaite judges him.

I am not sure about the smartness of Gyanendra. All major things he has done so far has made him a character to be ridiculed. So no prediction with certainty on my part.
