To, H. M. 5. King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, Narayanhiti Royal Palace, Kathmandu, Nepal. Subject: Cautiously welcome your move to shake Nepali politics Dear King, Right now entire world is focused toward the political development in Nepal. In a way we should be thankful of you for making Nepal so popular. Nepal has been in headline news in all most all major newspapers throughout the world for one whole week. Every individual have their own view regarding your move, most of the democratic governments have criticized your move, but they do not have first hand experience of corrupt government sucking our blood and selling our motherland in pieces. But as a Nepali who has continuously suffered for 14 years with corruption and civil-war, I am very excited about your move. I think this move will in future give Nepalese with end of one dictatorship. But whether it is going to be end for Leftist Dictators (Maoist) or Rightist Dictator (Monarchy) is in your hand and your handling of political crisis in Nepal in coming days. After hearing 21 point agenda released by your cabinet yesterday, I am hopeful that finally Nepal will move towards positive direction. But, once again you need to make sure that your cabinet will implement it and you are not using it just to get popular support like those corrupt leaders deed. About, tougher stand taken by your government against Maoist, I appreciate this move. But once again Security force should be directed not to misuse their power and torture innocent people, if they do so your move may backfire and bring end to Monarchy and may be Nepal itself. We still remember how KiloSera 2 operation of Nepalese police backfired and made Maoist stronger. Here are few points I think you should keep in mind, if you really want to help us and you want Monarchy to stay in Nepal and Nepalese to give love and respect to Monarchy. 1) Utmost requirement, please do try to implement your 21 point agenda and do not let it be just like a mere weapon to win popularity support. It will make you more unpopular if you don?t implement it, raising a question mark on existence of Monarchy itself. 2) To show your commitment towards multi-party democracy, do release the leaders that are not corrupt (I know it is hard to find this type of leaders), but before releasing them do take in writing that they will assist you in achieving your 21 point goal in 3 years and will in no way become disturbance to this government. 3) Do punish all those corrupt leaders and beurocrats and government employees. Please take their wealth ASAP before they shift it outside Nepal. Also do try to get support from foreign governments to get back the wealth those corrupt individuals have sent to US, India, Europe and so on. We all here outside Nepal know that here are so many family members of corrupt leaders who are sitting on the wealth of Nepal earned from corruption. Do not wait for court to punish them first catch them, put them in jail and their wealth in hold of government, then start court case. It really hurts when I see people walking around freely even though they are convicted for corruption. A normal individual will die of shame, but these are devils who live and eat on the money they earned from selling their own mothers flesh, so they have no shame. 4) Please release all the journalists and human right activist. But do warn them to do their job in unbiased sincerity towards country rather than for benifit towards a group of politicians. I welcome your move to censor nepalese media because it was media that was giving more hype to maoist and making them strong. Journalist should not forget than they have ethical responsibiility to work for the benefit of country and community they represent. It is a proffession where ethics come first than money. 5)To prove that royal palace is not corrupt, please make the account of royal earnings transparent. Please let us know why you increased royal budget from 60 millions to 600 millions as soon as you came in power. 6) Do check corruption in Army too, they are also one of the corrupt organization and now 70% of country?s budget is going on army?s hand. Do not let them misuse it. 7) Lastly, but not least. Do control your son Crown Prince. He is already 30 years old he should focus on improving his image and helping you to run country. He is not a teenager to drink and smoke then create trouble around the country. This will be injurious to monarchy and to Nepal too. He should be taught that people who gave power to his hand can snatch it back if he misuses that. Want to see example, just look around people gave power to politician by sacrificing their life 14 years back now we are backing king and taking the power back from politician because they misused it. He has to be model crown prince not the replica of Uday Hussainy or Qusay Hussain. If you could direct this country towards positive direction, then we will help you and support you in every move. But if it goes other way round and you start misusing the power then there will not be Kingdom of Nepal in worlds map. There will either be a state of India called as Nepal or will be a ruthless communist republic of Nepal. You are our last hope, do not let us down. Sincerely, Nepal Ama Ko Chora

To: MeriNepalAma (what a username!) (1) Dipendra also brought Nepal onto front pages all over the world. Getting into news is not necessarily a good thing. This also is one of those cases. (2) The Maoists in their purity would do what the king has done. Take away all your rights. So don't put the Maoists and the parties together. Instead put the Maoists and the Monarchists together. They are quite alike. (3) 21 point agenda. That is how every lame administration also starts. The point is not that the agenda looks good. The point is the person putting that on the scene has not been elected by the people. Who elected Gyanendra? (4) You bring up corruption as an issue and then show some numbers. Royal budget goes from 60 million to 600 million. Army budget becomes 70% of total national budget. Look at all that taxpayers' money the king and the army are taking. Is that not corruption? Which Govinda Raj Joshis of the world induldged in corruption at such a massive scale? (5) China. Pakistan. North Kora. King G has company! You guys do not "get" democracy and yet live in America. Look around!

well first of all I am not in America,... when you say you do not understand democracy, I agree with you but "I do not understand democracy in Nepal" for 14 years we saw it and there was nothing that blood sucking and country was going down than up.... you say who has corruption at that scale , why dont you go and ask you leaders... eg; already proven crime..... Chiranjibi wagle use to be a street vendor of chill know as "khursani maila" now he has 60 million that is corruption in 60 fold....... that is just a example... there are so many leaders just imagne 60*100 leaders become 6000 of corruption... so do not ask who does corruption such high.... leaders in nepal have already done that.......... and as far as kings and army corruption is concerned... you did not read the subject of my letter "catiously support your move" . Right now we have to support him because it is last hope and its already proven that democratic leaders have no balls to deal with maoist and no way they are going to fight corruption......

Tsk paramendra, Just because we (some of us) support King G's move and you do not, we do not 'GET' democracy? What a leap my dear. You throw the name "America" like it your babu ko pewa and yet try ingore what this "America" ( may be you meant USA) does to other countries when it suits. Nicaragua - rings a bell? Guatemala? How about the "debate" going on in your "America" and my adoptive country that it is "perfectly ok" to go to another country to assasinate a state man or somebody "America" does thinks is an "undemocratic?" Mind you this "debate" is a farce because it has been already approved. Rings a bell? Or have you gone deaf from shouting DEMOCRACY, DEMOCRACY, DEMOCRACY...???

Dear Meri Nepal Ama. First you showed how pathetic you and your opinion stands for, from the language of your own posting. I dont need to argue with you at all. Second, I am the son of a poor farmer brought up and educated in a democratic Nepal. I have excelled high in study and I am holiding a respectable job in a top corporation of the west at present. NO mandale can shake my position and no mandale gaali will shake my resillience against Tyranny in Nepal.

As far as communication cuttoff is concerned, that was required to bring situation under control...so that corrupt leaders would not use it as weapon to again misguide janta and bring them to road..... get them clash with security and netas can do ranjai threatning king.... if this idea works and gives hard time for maoist then its a good move... if you say its undemocratic then you are wrong...... Some one tried to preach me US democracy, just turn your head and see how US is trying to establish democracy in Iraq.... they are doing so using force... and they have to do that because the force opposing them is with gun and power too.. same is case in nepal if excessive force and prevention measure is not applied you can not protect democracy in nepal.......

well new user if you think you are respected figure then learn that you need to earn respect by respecting other... remember when you are pointing figure me 3 fingures are pointng towards you... you started verbal war by saying mandale to others without knowing the truth.... actually my reply is less against your allegation... if you are repectable figure in big company then learn to live with respect..... the cheap mentalitiy you are showing by terming other mandale is pathetic...... it is similar to maoist who kill people who oppose them... so does that mean I can tell you a communist maoist staying in west enjoying capitalism...

Cheap are your words mate, forget commenting about my mentality. My words are against tyranny, against supression of fundamental rights. I am a capable person on my own and do not need help from political leaders or mandales or maoists. never did I seek any help from others. So I support social justice, freedom of expression and rights of information. People never get misguided. If you think people are misguided, it means you are afraid of people. Why can't you convince people that your king is better then the leaders and prevent them from staging protests against autocracy. Why cut off telephone lines and put the country in darkness??

New User, Your language is not any better either.Dont show off here in Sajha. Most of the people here are working in a good corporations like yours. That doesn't give you any right to look down on any other Nepalis. King is trying to clean up the mess your dads created.Keep your mouth shot and see.We are not Mandales and Panches. My father is a farmer.I want peace in my village. My village needs that "few thousand rupees" for tiny development works. Paramendra, don't try to be a Guru of Prajatantra here.We have seen your Madhisi color all over Sajha.Do you ever speak of entire Nepal and not of Madhishes?

And you know what Deep Blue, many of us espousing democracy here are not the sons and daughters of politicians either. We too are ordinary people who want the best for our country and deeply believe we need to have a country where everyone has the right to speak their minds and does not need to live in fear of persecution. Your sense of self-righteousness is beginning to get a little nauseating. One does not have to be the son or daughter of Girijha Koirala or Lokendra Bahadur Chand to have an opinion ? to assume so is to assume that ordinary people are stupid and cant think for themselves. Sorry, but that?s the only I can interpret your posting. ------------------------------------------------------------- A country does not have to be deemed fit for democracy; rather, it has to become fit through democracy - Amartya Sen, Nobel Laureate

Deepblue, I agree with you. "We are not Mandales and Panches. My father is a farmer.I want peace in my village. My village needs that "few thousand rupees" for tiny development works." I think most of Sajha friends are not mandale or panche but still they do support for kings action coz we all tried of currupt leaders and moaists. Yes, i rememer when i was at high school "we used to say Adda pet khaincha pajratantra leiincha" but now time is change " Adha pet khaincha des ma santh ra suracha chaincha" That's why i support king. I wish next time while i visit my lovely country i can go my village where i was born, i can go my school where i read while i was samll kid, i can go and see that place where i used to fightwith my friends, where we used to play games and enjoy that high school time. Jai Nepal, Sagun
