Arch thanks u soooooooooooo much. U have lots of songs that I wanted. Hey do u have the mp3 of "Kaha timro mayalu lai", its by Himalaya Band or so I was told. I did get the song in kurakani.tk but am not able to download it.

There is no reason why u shouln't be able to do so provided you had copied the URL exactly and pasted in the address bar of your browser 'coz I am receiving a lot of access even during the time of this writing.
A common mistake people make is forgetting the trailing slash ('/') and since I am using a linux server, please use lowercase letters only when typing your URL.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux (recently upgraded to 'Sarge') running on generic Linux Kernel 2.6.8 but the whole Debian installation took only 480 MB for me. I also have a RH-9 machine running on my costume Linux kernel (2.6.2) but I prefer Debian to any other distro I have used till now (that includes Redhat and its alter ego, Fedora Core, Mandrake etc) primarily because of its simplicity and ease of maintenance.
And thanks once again for pointing out the problem. When I transfer these mp3s from my windows machine to the server using Samba, the permission of the file is set to '0700' and that's the reason why apache daemon can't read it. So, I have to manually change the permission to '0644' and I keep on forgetting it for some files. ( Will automate it with some scripts if there are more problems like this ).

Ya, I also thought of
find . -type f | xargs chmod 0644
but realized that it won't work when there are spaces inside filenames ( In fact a large number of the shared files have spaces inside their filenames ). So, I was planning to do something sed-ish or awk-ish.

As you said, there was no need to write a _script_. A simple awk pipe inserted in between did the trick.
