Hey Guys, I came up with an idea of Posting Number of Nepalese students studying in Different US universities. It might be helpful knowing number of Students in USA. If you guys dont' mind, please go ahead and start posting the average number of students in your University or College. Here i m writing the few number of Nepalese in follwing Universities(might not be Exactly correct). 1.Minnesota State University Moorhead------around (40-50) Most student come as a Transfer Student. 2. Minnesota State University Mankato------around(90-100). The ratio of students getting transfered to this University is higher than students coming as a freshman. 3. Newman University(Wichita,Kansas)---- around(50-60). Every semester the ratio of coming freshman Student from Nepal is really high. Average of 50 Students every Semester, the only sad thing is Most student transfer from this University. 4.Southwest Minnesota State University------around 100..Most of them are Freshman students coming from Nepal with an average of 70-80 students per semester. 5. St.Cloud State University---I dont' have exact no. of students in St.Cloud but heard its around 150-200 or more. If you guys have idea, go ahead and correct it. 6.Northlake College, Dallas, TX ---Greatest Number of Nepalese Student. More than 300. To be continued......Go ahead and Post it... Thanks.

Hey Cool Guy, No of Students in the University of Central Oklahoma is around 110. We have around 20 new students every semester. Most transfer to North Lake Texas, the biggest home of Nepalese Student. You were sad about students transfering from Newman University, Wichita. Dude, thats the worst school I have ever been to, in US. I was there to visit my friends and I was shocked looking at the facilities. They didnt have enough computers. I think they told me they have access to only four computers and the day I went there the system was down. And, the dorms were like plain army barracks. A plain bunk bed, a desk and chair, all old and about to fall apart. I am not exaggerating. The school simply looked dreary with all its old grey buildings. They do have a new plan for library but it wont be on making until 2007. And I read a good discussion about how the library should be built in the school's weekly newspaper. Some were suggesting the library should be modern with ample spaces for student interactions while others rather conservatives were suggesting it should be built in a traditional way. Any way, the school is a good pass way into United States. For some reasons, the students applying to this school get visa easily and more frequently. So, if any body can handle any hardships for a semester, Newman is an option.

Bellevue is around 150 and troy State in Alabama is around 50. troy is also a gate way into US. I heard that almost all student get a visa but there is no job on or off campus. Plus troy it self is a small town. I would not recommend anyone to come to troy but Bellevue is preety nice. you got chances to work off campus some where in the mall or if you can khurkiyo your SS you can work at FDR (First data resource). Its your luck

Gyanendras, About Newman University, your right. well last year when i went there to see one of my newly arrived friend from Nepal, i was kinda Shocked. As you said, they've limited no. of computers, dude, i was even able to count the number of computers in that University. Your right, they have four computers accessed with internet, or where you can only use MSN messenger in a dorm.(MERLINI HALL). Around 10-15(with more than 2 out of Orders) in so called HANGAR. Around 6-7 in Library, that's all i was able to see. About living in dorms, there's a worst scenario. Actually one room is for 2 people but especially for Nepalese people they've different provisions. It's like the more Nepalese you live with, the more cheaper the Rent is. I've seen 4 nepalese students living in a single room. 85% of Newman Student Transfer to Northlake College, 10% transfer to Other Universities, Rest of 5 % stay back in Newman with a hope of being an RA of Nepalese Students.

Kool guy, It's cool to have this statistics. But, may i ask you why you're collecting this data. Any goal? In my opinion, it would be useful statics for those Nepali students, who're seeking help to transfer or enroll as a new student. I think if we can collect this data accurately, we can ask San to post this information somewhere in visible place at Sajha. In addition to that, how about collecting tuition rate/ scholarship and in-state tution opportunities in those colleges/universities, where we have Nepalese students. There might be a lot of websites like this. But we can use sajha for this type of information too. What you think about this idea?

Going to an undergrad school in usa is a waste of time.. only a very few has made it to a successful life afterwards... why don't our brothers and sisters come here for grad studies getting paid to study rather than working like slaves in OC, MD and estes park CO.. and struggling for tution and basic things for living. why hasn't our brothers and sisters are made aware of the hardship of undergrad life and slippery immigration path that can slip off anyway and make your life more miserable? anyway, i think if someone wants to get a better estimate on the number of Nepali students they have to go to Ocean city and estes park and set up a booth to count Nepali ( + or - 200 ) .....
