"The Beatles" need no introduction. They have been recognized by many critics and social historians as the most popular and influential music group of the 20th century, probably the greatest band ever. More than just the leaders of a movement in rock music known as the British Invasion, the Beatles were the main force behind changing the concept of popular music stars from simple entertainers to social and spiritual gurus. While the group remained hugely popular throughout the decade, the Beatles gradually transformed from fresh-faced boys singing songs about love into complex young men writing about a world full of political and social upheaval. For many critics and music fans the group reflected the turmoil and change that gripped society during the 1960s.
The Beatles comprise: - John Lennon - Paul McCartney - George Harrison - Ringo Starr
Let's pay tribute to this greatest band by compiling some of the greatest numbers from them. Let me do the first honor by including one of my favorite numbers "REAL LOVE"
Beatles is indeed a timless classic. One of my all time favorites. The songs that come to mind:
Things You Said Today Elanor Rigby (...died in the church and was buried along with her name : quite a catchy tone :) Act Naturally (...they gonna put me in the movie, they gnna make a star out of me film about a man who is sad and lonely, and all I gotta do is act naturarlly :)
I sometime feel very lucky to be studying in the city of beatles. I think a true beatles fan must come and see the museam of beatles in liverpool when they come to england.
Sheepdog standing in the rain Bullfrog doing it again Somekind of happiness is measured out in miles What makes you think your something special when you smile?
Childlike no one understands Jack knife in your sweaty hands
Somekind of innocence is measured out in years You don't know what it's like to listen to your fears
You can talk to me You can talk to me You can talk to me If your lonely you can talk to me
Big man walking in the park Wigwam frightned of the dark Somekind of solitude is measured out in you You think you know me but you haven't got a clue
You can talk to me You can talk to me You can talk to me If your lonely you can talk to me
Oh yeh, I'll tell you something I think you'll understand When I'll say that something I wanna hold your hand I wanna hold your hand I wanna hold your hand
Oh please, say to me You'll let me be your man And please, say to me You'll let me hold your hand You'll let me hold your hand I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy inside It's such a feeling that my love I can't hide, I can't hide, I can't hide
Yeh, you've got that something I think you'll understand When I'll say that something I wanna hold your hand I wanna hold your hand I wanna hold your hand
And when I touch you I feel happy inside It's such a feeling that my love I can't hide, I can't hide, I can't hide
Yeh, you've got that something I think you'll understand When I'll feel that something I wanna hold your hand I wanna hold your hand I wanna hold your hand I wanna hold your hand
There are places I'll remember All my life though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places have their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more In my life I love you more
But a great song nevertheless, the story of my life :)
Music & Lyrics: Gene Raskin; performed by Mary Hopkins) Once upon a time there was a tavern Where we used to raise a glass or two Remember how we laughed away the hours And dreamed of all the great things we would do
Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la... Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Then the busy years went rushing by us We lost our starry notions on the way If by chance I'd see you in the tavern We'd smile at one another and we'd say
Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la... Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Just tonight I stood before the tavern Nothing seemed the way it used to be In the glass I saw a strange reflection Was that lonely woman really me
Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la... Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Through the door there came familiar laughter I saw your face and heard you call my name Oh my friend we're older but no wiser For in our hearts the dreams are still the same
Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way. La la la la... Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days
Mr Lonely, here is one I took inside. I took this picture out of ignorance as they do not allow visitors to take pictures. This was the best one that I could get hold of.
Mahisasur, thanks man for the picture. I hope they did not trouble you for taking the picture. :). You are a good musician yourself and a fan of the Beatles too, I assume. Please share any information and/or pictures that you have of the group. I will appreciate it.
