check out this bull shit posted in wikipedia! "In 1788 the Gurkha King Prithvi Narayan Shah, in the process of carving out the modern boundaries of Nepal, invaded Tibet. Unable to defeat the Gurkhas alone the Tibetans called upon Qing reinforcements. The Qing-Tibetan army defeated the Gurkhas and invaded Nepal. Thereafter Nepal was officially a tributary state to the Qing Empire. This brought the attention of the British, which regarded Nepal as being within its sphere of influence. The Tibetans withdrew from Nepal, but they closed the Tibetan border and refused to allow any foreigners to enter the country. Tibet's reputation as "the hermit kingdom" dates from this time. During the whole of the 19th century few foreigners saw Lhasa." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Tibet#The_Mongols_and_the_Sakya_.28Sa-skya.29_school

okay, here's what i know England was operating east india comapny in India, and they wanted to expand more, they were already covering most part of the Europe and Asia, so they wanted to get all the asia, with china and india. So they tried to invade nepal, but couldn't succeed, to take the capital of .....gorkha i think was the capital back then before it was KTM. and they retreated. Tibet was part of China, but it separated somehow i dont know how, then now its back to china again i beleive. I think! :P

actually i just found that gurkhas were defeated in one battle in 1780. they initally invaded Tibet and won. and later the chinese imperial army came and defeated them in a rather humiliating way. and the gurkhas actually had to pay a tribute to the dynasty until 1908. oops, my bad...i grew up studying books published in nepal...tehi influence ho.

That shit on Wikipedia is definitely not true. We will need a good source to convince Wikipedia to change that. Anyone's got a book or something where we can quote from?

one thing on my mind. We are told that our Mahendra was a great king that he left his throne and went to India for the sake of people. But here i heard contradicting facts that he was actually scared to be killed by Ranas, so he ran away to India.
