I need help to find the right maternity insurance for my expecting wife.
Is there any student whos spouse gave a birth, please help me regarding the insurance and other expenses I may have.

Status wise, I am in OPT for one year, and she is F-2. Currenty she doesnt have any insurance.

it is hard to find insurance if she is already pregnant....or you should try to find a good job that covers your wife insurance..if she doesn't have any insurance having baby especially Cesarean Section cost lots of money...so hurry up and find as much information you could about insurance....good luck...

How much is your income??
As far as I know most of the states have medicaid for the low income people and it will cover all the costs till the baby is 45 days old.

If you have a low income I suggest you not to go for insurance you know it is very expencive and they would not cover if she is already pregnant. Thats what I did, and I know lots of people who had done the same.

Contact the nearest DHS as soon as possible.

Apply for a medicare at DHS right way. You and your wife will be called for an interview by a finance counsellor and they will direct you on how to go about medicare. They might ask you to provide your bank statements, student verification etc. but they are very helpful.

and if your wife is pregnant take her to WIC....they will provide your wife nutrientts necessary for pregnant wife and they will provide it until your baby grows up..they won't ask for income..they just need your wife and i think your state ID..every student take this offfer don't hesitate...
and about medicaid they willl pay you one time billss as you are international ...just show your income...and you don't need to worry about your baby insurance..your baby will be citizen so the baby can continue getting insurance from government...

SS74K, I heard about maternity card, I read that iit wont help much because it is not an insurance. They just try to find cheaper services.

Till this month I will be on pay as for a student scholarship, from next month it will go as a full pay but even then I will be in low income group.
Do you know if she can have medicaid without having SSN?
Please also inform where to apply for medicaid in TX.

Take your wife to WIC and DHS...they will help you..

As far as I know without social she can't enroll, but I guess delivery is free at public hospital.

I am not 100% sure about this but having Social Security # or not is irrelevant. You should be able to get DHS Medicare and WIC support no matter what. Please do check as soon as possible because your wife's and your unborn child's health might be at risk.

go to any government clinic in that county for checkup
they will give you full information.
all you need is driver licence, utility bill, two/three paystubs.
if you don't have paystubs. try to get it from somewhere. if you work in gas station try to get it from there. don't tell them you are student and in F! visa.
just provide them the documents what i mentioned above. they not gonna ask you anything. if you want further information just email me.

go to county hospital where they will do that with ur income and you should be fine. Show them your wife's income if possible

Should have thunk about all these before you got her pregnent!!!

If somebody can give in some detail, how they got the help with no SSN, I will be grateful.

She can go to any health center in the county .They cannot turn her away.
If they ask for SSN ,she can tell them she doesnot have one.
And also apply for WIC assistance.

Go to the nearest community based services and they will help you get medicaid. Take your income proof/pay stub and address verification (utility bill). You moron still don't know how to find it? Google the Texas Cabinet for Women and Children. Note down the phone no. to contact to collect necessary information. They should also have addresses for different local offices where you can contact the nearest one.
SSN is not necessary for medicaid if you can prove you are legally here. Besides your pregnant wife has an American baby, so both will be covered no matter what so long as you proletarian destitute can't make enough to support her and the baby medically even though you know how to make babies. Let me know if you still can't figure out all this. Maybe then you don't deserve to be a father!

I was a student when we had our firth baby. Through some links I contacted DHS and after looking my income of $400 per month they enrolled her for free.
I was in TX at that time. It depends on the state u live but there is always a way.

Damn.........you pinched me lonely1.........
I am going through the most stressful time of my life..........and god is giving me the new life to take care of..............(well I am not blaming to god for baby..........but he does everything.......I believe).
I thought I was a very planned man......but everything is breaking apart.
Any way........DHS (Is that Texas Department of Health and Human Services) straightway said no SSN, no medicaid, unitil the baby is here. I dont know how Icanfly went through it, may be I have to go to thier office, withou talking them in phone.
I have some hope from WIC, which I didn't try before, due to the disappointment form DHS. Now I am trying to set for an appointment, they are closed on Wed, so for tomorrow.
