Ranking Malpi as one of the top schools? Oh gosh! I have had tutored a couple of folks from Malpi and I have seen the quality of Malpi. The fees are too high for average Nepali family. Rs.5000+fees per month for tuition? Future prospects? A couple of students make it to schools abroad every year, however, nominal if you talk about top colleges. Rato Bangala? Relatively good teachers. They still need to work a lot on the infrastructures and student body. They are coming up pretty well but they need more qualified students i.e. the supposedly intelligent mass of students to bring the school to the top. The fee is too high for average to higher middle class Nepali family.fees are around Rs.7000+ for tuition alone, is it? Future prospects? Now it has been able to send students to some good schools abroad and its catching up with Budhanilkantha School. Good counseling to students. Budhanilkantha School? Best in Nepal in terms of infrastructures and student body. I think Budhanilkantha is the best value for money. The fees cannot match the actual cost of tuition and living expenses. fees around Rs.6000/month including room and board. However, on the downside, the quality of teachers is going down. Moreover, there are some supposedly social evils progressing among the students. Future prospects: I think they send like 70-85% of their A level graduates abroad and many to good schools. If you are smart enough to match the brains of the students out there, you can make it to a good school. So, based on my perception, I would still rank Budhanilkantha School at the top. But, soon Rato Bangala might take it over if they work on their student body and infrastructure.

I think Ugratara Chandi Bagesawari Sarkari Madhyamik Vidhyalaya is the best one in Nepal. Have you heard this school's name? I find this topic very racist or discriminatory because in this topic, many people who were privileged will promote or say their schools' name. Sorry to disappoint u guys but try to look beyond kathmandu. see how students study there.

Best school in Nepal? Best for whom? For some magazine rankings? For the ego of some groups of alumni? For all students? Best by what criteria? -Best in terms of preparing students for three-hour exams? -Best in terms of preparing students to face the ups and downs of life? Maybe the so-called "best schools" (whichever they are) have what's called "exam meritocracy" - the results of which do NOT count for much for 99.99 per cent of people to be the best in anything in life. Meantime, I found this very interesting. Hat tip to AMS for the pointer. Enjoy, oohi ashu ******************* "Newsweek pundit Fareed Zakaria observed that students in Singapore score much higher than American students; but 10 or 20 years later, American students are ahead. “Singapore has few truly top-ranked scientists, entrepreneurs, inventors, business executives or academics. American kids test much worse, but seem to do better later in life and in the real world.†Some have attributed this outcome to the quality of American universities. But to contend this would be to deny that elementary and secondary education has any consequences. A more plausible explanation is that multiple-choice tests taken by 13-year-olds don’t count for much in the long run. The Singapore minister of education affirmed this interpretation, telling Zakaria that Singapore had an exam meritocracy, America a talent meritocracy. “We cannot use tests to measure creativity, ambition or the willingness of students to question conventional wisdom.†Zakaria also quoted a Singaporean father who once lived in the United States. “In the American school, when my son would speak up, he was applauded and encouraged. In Singapore he’s seen as pushy and weird.†The father moved his son to an American-style private school. - http://www.stanfordalumni.org/news/magazine/2006/julaug/features/nclb.html
