he is a villian ofcourse....manav ko rup ma danav ( as what the saying goes) i m just so impress with the article.... "it is ironic that a man who has led a ruthless war that took the lives of 13,000 people is being treated like a hero"....

the title sounds a bit too ambitious and to some extent-- judgmental to me, but all in all-- a nice article! in my eyes, as of now, he is neither hero nor villain - - falls somewhere in between. the punch line i guess is: he's fought for the right cause ---way he did it, could be debated for eons. however, he does have potential to be revered or if that's too ambitious-- be respected at least, by many in the future, if he binds himself and his party within the norms of multiparty democracy and plays a major role in leading nepal to a peaceful, self-sufficient and prospering nation in economic front. Very good article, specifically the line "But many would continue to question whether all the killing and destruction was necessary for him to accept what Nepal's major communist parties accepted a long time ago." All that killing, loss of lives, loss of country's infrastructure, economic loss due to their various illegal activities throughout the years.... who is gonna account for all that. Its unfortunate that we have to accept them for the sake of peace, but they deserve nothing less than a death sentence. As it says in the article "Though records have fluctuated, the GDP growth rate in 1995/96, when the Maoists began their insurgency, was 5.4%, an encouraging figure for Nepal.", if we had not had these shitheads, Nepal would've been in a much better shape. Their practice of extortion (which they call "donation") and life threats (in most cases actually executing people), has forced people to live in fear. In a country where politics is already in a unstable state, they have significantly added instability and steered the country into a much bigger mess. If these reasons are not good enought to prove that he is nothing more than just a mere fuccking traitor, then I don't know what else can. HE SHOULD BE HANGED TILL DEATH!!!

why are we missing the bigger picture here? what good would those stats (5.4% GDP or whatever) would do to the country when there is a larger than life class difference in the country? rich will become richer and poor--poorer? opportunists and influence would've kept on dictating their terms while under-privileged would have been left out for good! let's look at where we are now. at least the parliament now has social disparity as the major issue to cover. at least the feudal monarchy has been pushed aside to take a back seat. do you think it would've been possible without 10 years of insurgency? i am not a violence lover, but if things come our way through it, we may need to embrace it. as i said, it's debatable. whatever happened over the last 10 years or so, we've lost many but we've gain some as well. the thing is : IT"S TIME TO MOVE ON! there's no point declaring prachanda --a hero or a villain at this point. let him move on. let's all move on from here! Lootekukur, I agree that social disparity (rich getting richer poor getting poorer) is a huge problem in nepal, but lets look at it in a different way. Don't you think India also had the same problem? What do you see now happening with them? In my personal opinion, I think rich Indians are getting richer and the poor are ALSO getting richer. Look at the rate with which their middle class is growing, if they had kept complaining about social disparity instead of focusing more on growing the country's economy, they woldn't be where they are now. I'm not trying to compare nepal to india, just trying to say that if Nepal had continued without Maoist thugs, we could've seen a much better Nepal. Theres no denying to the fact that Maoists actually pushed the country into a much worse situation.

he is just an another politician with a lil different view....he is also CORRUPTED, he has also RAPED many, he has LIED ppl many times,,,he also has VANDALISED public property, he has also taken part in STRIKE, he has also added fuel on burning tyres on street, has also FIGHT for POSITION, has also KILLED many people, anything that are in uppercase are very common in our leaders, so i would say he is just an another politician. only difference is, the number of killing is way higher than others....

"LETS MOVE ON......."TOWARDS WHERE LOOTEKUKKUR???? a republic of nepal...???? a communist nation??? Like the N korea?????......how can a communist belief party lead a democratic country?? or a wannabe democratic country.......The only reason he is living and in controll is because of the barrell of his gun pointed at anyone who dissagrees that he is a hero. HE IS NOT A HERO OR A VILLIAN......HE IS A TERRORIST CRIMINAL....THIS AINT ANY MOVIE.......................HE HAS BLOOD OF THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT NEPALESE BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN HIS HANDS...... once by any miracle if he looses this controll with gun ................He will be killed..........If communist state and a republic rule is what you all want.........than I feel sorry for your thought process.......you see I worry.....I worry about freinds and loved ones who will suffer the consiquences.......if this monster comes into power...........He will turn Nepal into N korea.............if you doubt that .....read the news ......he has already distanced him self from the NC party and constantly threaten to wipe out monarchy...............he will easly get rid of NC...RPP....etc .........last hope will remain the king ..........he knows that the king somehow still can pose a threat to his dream of turning Nepal in to a pure comunist republic.........Once he does that(get rid of the King)................No one in this world can save Nepal........So I ask again...............Where are we going With Prachanda as a leader??????????........is this what you want????

if Nepal had continued without Maoist thugs, we could've seen a much better Nepal. daddy, that's a wishful thinking, innit? democracy is a slowly evolving process. india, fortunately got it 60 years back and they're building onto it. no monarchy, no communists and no extremists as such for them since then. nepal unfortunately haven't have that privilege yet. we fought, we kept quiet, again we fought and we're still fighting. we fought against ranas, we fought against the king. now, if maoists evolve as extremists against democracy, we may have to fight against them as well. i don't want to rush into the conclusion to declare prachanda as hero or villain. from 2007 fight for freedom, we got rid of the rana monopoly. and now through maoists, we're on the verge of getting rid of the monarchy for good. so we're moving, albeit slowly. as i said, we've lost many lives. perhaps there could've been a better way. but since none was coming, it came through maoists way...that's the reality! we need to accept it and move forward from here instead of honoring or cursing anyone. prachanda and maoists still have a long way to go before we call them heroes or villains. they've succeeded in creating a conducive environment for full-fledged democracy from where we can prosper as a nation. how they carry themselves from here, is still needed to be waited and watched. i think i have answered maddogg as well. :P LooTe

hmmm...Hero or Villian ..Neither!! He is clever Hyenna. He is not human being so he cannot be hero or villian. when some people have characteristics of animals .behaves like animal how can you call him hero or villian. He wants animal rule in Nepal..Read "ANIMAL FARM" Loote..i am surprised ..you still didn't get it..after one year of observation...you will never get it .Tube light:D heard: mornings shows the day : don't get back to me with "don't judge a book by its cover" i know you will so read the summary at first hai was happy to buy blooded cover as well. He is what he is planning simple: Even though they are in both the govt. they are still the same.Haven't changed a thing.before they were terrorist now they are govt. He knows very well , he won't be able to win 10 seats in election.now to save his face he is using YCl t declare Nepal republic to prove he is Hero not zero. After election , just like 1990 ..maoist without guns will remain just a small party. He cannot let that happen. He is playing all the cards now cause after election people won't even spit at him Forget the Presidency. very clever indeed. But others are not stupid!!!

If you ask maoists ------> he is a hero If ask royalists------------> he is a villian If you ask SPA---------------> he is a villian IT ALL DEPENDS UPON THE PERPECTIVE. So to even ask this question is STOOOOOPID. It would do nothing but further divide the Nepali population.
