JOJO LOPPA is not namaste in Newaari. It is recently made by some so called Nepal bhasha bidwaan. You will not find this word in any Newari books and dictionaries except of recent couple of years. If you analyse this word, you will find unpleasant meaning.
Loppa= loppaa khuwaaunu or just to humiliate other
jo jo= jodera
the pseudo intellectual try to make the word which sense like "dui haat jodnu" but he /she never analysed other side of the coin.

Here is my response to posting by rahulvai -
JOJO LOPPA is not namaste in Newaari.
- Its not JOJO LOPPA. Its Jwajalapa ज्वजलपा
- Newari is a vulgar term for the language 'Nepalbhasa' or 'Newaa Bhaye'.
It is recently made by some so called Nepal bhasha bidwaan. You will not find this word in any Newari books and dictionaries except of recent couple of years.
- This is baseless. The word Jwajalapa is from the Newar verb 'Jwajalape' ज्वजलपे or 'Jwajalapiye' ज्वजलपिये which means to greet by putting the hands together (similar) to 'Namaste'. This word is found in numerous medieval manuscripts especially in ritual books. From the research done by the renowned researchers like Asst. Prof. Kashinath Tamot it has been found that the term 'Jwajalape' is at least 500 years old. According to the youth scholar Subhash Ram Prajapati, the term 'Jwajalape' is also found in 'Lalitbistara' a book by Nisthananda, which is more than a hundred years ago.
The one thing what truth is the newars brought the word ज्वजलपा (coined the noun term from the verb) and beeing used widely these days. This word has become the most popular word among the newars and the non newars. Obviously, as this noun term has not been so long in use, this term may not be found in some new dictionaries. However, this word is being added in dictionaries quite rapidly and there is a craze in newar community that a lot of organization, clubs, restaurants, businesses has been named after this term 'Jwajalapa'.
Loppa= loppaa khuwaaunu or just to humiliate other
jo jo= jodera
the pseudo intellectual try to make the word which sense like "dui haat jodnu" but he /she never analysed other side of the coin.
As I have already mentioned above, its not jo jo loppa, its jwajalapa ज्वजलपा. So, the term Lopaa and humilating other has nothing to do with Jwajalapa.
The living language changes with time. Every language coin new terms, borrow words from other language etc. This is the nature of the living language. This is how a language become rich. If you go to english language, it has borrowed a lot of words from other languages and tons of words are being coined rapidly.
It is necessary that we preserve old words and coin new words if we do not have suitable word in our language. 'Jwajalapa' is a new gift to Nepalbhasa brought from an ancient term 'Jwajalape'.
Let's use 'Jwajalapa'. Jwajalapa all !
Thank you.

एकजना कृषि पढाउने गुरुले नेवारी साह्रै राम्रो बोल्नुहुन्थ्यो। नाम (प्रेम), थर बिर्से; तर प्रजातन्र आएपछी रेडियो नेपालमा नेवारी समाचार प्रस्तुत गर्नुहुन्थ्यो।
Also is the Newari script similar to Tibetan?

It is very nice thought to learn one of our most rich cultered language. But to learn this thread is not enough. Any Nepal Bhasha Scholor should try to create a tutorial website about this. Probably Newa Bhasha Samiti or like this organization...........I had tried to learn this while I was in KTM but ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
