Hello ,

My EAD is going to expire in 85 days. What will be the best option? e-filing or paper based? Is it true we don't have to go through Biometric test if we do paper based. What documents i have to sent to USCIS if i do paper based. Please help.

Thanks.

EAD can be filed up to 120 days before the expiry. Please download the form from www.uscis.gov. Follow th instructions. File it at the service center per your state of residence with the applicable fees of $340. You will be given a 2 years approval. Even if you do online filing, you will be submitting a hard copy later. Therefore, it is advisable to do a paper based filing. www.santosgere.wordpress.com

SC,

Nowadays, it is taking too long to get EAD approval. I have been waiting for more than 90 days to get my EAD. So better, apply soon.

Smooth- I hope you're not real criminal... otherwise you will never get approved. hehe!

I don't encourage you to file online.

Anyways, you and me sound like on the same boat. I recently sent applications for renewal to TX and got receipt notice yesterday. NO! YOU DON'T NEED TO GO THROUGH LAWYER TO RENEW. Your 485 will still be taken care by your lawyer if you get any query. Renewal of EAD should be pretty straight forward case.

I hope you still have the top part of mailer from last EAD. Send that along.... plus your and your spouse's EAD front and back copies. Send the copy of 485 receipt to prove they're pending. These are the most important documents... then you can send any other supporting docs you want like H1B.. approved copy of I-140. But they're not required. But the requirements are clearly mentioned on INSTRUCTION.

Also, if you are July 2007 filer under new fee, you don't have to send application fee. Read the instructions .. it is mentioned there.

Good luck!
