I was watching special Dateline on NBC today; The Rolling stone magazine editor said Michael Jackson is/was most famous artist all the time in America even more famous than Elvis Presley.

I think personally he is the 2^nd most famous person in the world all the time after Bruce Lee.

What do you guys think who is the most famous/known person in the world all the time?

How do u tell who's the most famous/known person "in the world". Think logically.

Ask a villager in remote village of Nepal who's plouging his field, his answer will reflect this question. He might not know Obama, Bill Gates or Einstein, but he will definetly have heard about MJ. You might think, well Amitab Bachhan will make on his list too. But same scenerio in other countries, Amitab is nowhere on the list. MJ is the most "KNOWN" person. Period.

Bruce Lee will be on the top 10 list.

I think I should have said most known person. SFSU, I think you’re right but I meant in the modern time. Bob Marley you’re right in some way, Amitab Bacchan might be on the 10 ten list. But ask your grand ma if she knows about Bill Gates or Einstein. I don’t think these two guys even get top 20s but I am sure she may have heard about Bruce Lee or Michael Jackson.

Oh Sorry...i need to add few nepali names too to display my patriotic nature...how about Rajesh Hamal, Prachanda, DR. Bhattrai, Makune or Karishma Manandhar....as the most famous person in the world of all time.

No. For our age it may have been michael jackson. But for the kids growing now it could well be different person. We were just born in jackson era. During Elvis era everybody knew elvis. When Beatle mania grip the world they were most influential music people.

Definitely MJ. Not just because he died yesterday but everyone even people in the villages and illiterate know MJ. Einstein, Bill only educated people know about them. Budha and Jesus lets not put them in persons list.
