Apparently in this day and economy, it is always a good judgment to hear from shrewd businessmen who have few books written up in addition to running successful businesses rather than following unwarranted advice of an anonymous moron who thinks he knows everything, who hides under anonymous nickname to throw trash at known people because that's the only thing he knows how to do. It would be a wise judgment to ignore such dumb ignorant baffoons who have nothing but negativity for themselves and for others.
I'm going to sit back now to enjoy the antiques of the baffoon as he turns the topic from the original topic to how he knows everything and how he's the supreme all knowing baffoon hiding under an anonymous nickname to get a kick out of his pathetic existence.
I live in a neighbouring state, hope to make it there for this talk program.
He will teach you how to encroach innocent people's land to build a holiday resort.
Portray yourself as a consevationist . No Consevation = No Tourists means No Business for Mr. Sakya.
I am anonymous because I don't have to show my face to assholes like you to get credit for anything. Whereas he has to put on a public face to empower his business reach every where he goes. Tara yestoo kura yestaaa gadha haru justaaaa GrgDai ley ke sochna sakthyo. Why don't you just be a Sheep and follow the herd then.
Just because I don't do that "Prabhu ko gun gau" does not mean what I am saying is wrong. Everyone should be held accoutable for what they do. And that means Mr Sakya too. Isn't that what freedom and democracy is ? Otherwise we should put the Murderous Maoist in the same pedestal then. There sure are a lot of people in Nepal who think they(the Maoist) did nothing wrong.
mr shakya has the audacity to put a public face and say what he thinks so the public can make their own decision to go see his talk program.Unlike anonymous coffee here who hides behind his pseudonym. Assholes like you don't have the guts to show your true identity, and you hide behind that faceless mask to be indecent, rude and intolerant to others because you can't face reality. At least come up with some evidence before saying crap about a known person like he encroached land. huh
I do not know Mr Shakya. I just happened to read his books. So I am gun gaoing Prabhu. I am doing my best to make a venue so that people can come and share some ideas. Why don't you come and ask all these questions to him, if you have GUTS ?
The book Soch is going for the sixteenth edition and others sold like hot cakes. That does indicate that there is something in his works.
I do admit that there might be some vested interest in his conservation works, but his interests are beneficial to Nepal. He does make profit out of his six hotels he and his family owns - that is his business but have you ever considered how many jobs that has created? How many families have been fed ?
Do you mean to say, nobody should ever do business ??? Bro, you are in States and you know how economy runs !! Thamel is Thamel because of Kathmandu Guest House ! Can you deny that ?
You can say what ever you want, but just don't use foul language.
You are free to do whatever you want to bro. As far as coming to see him, ummm... I have no interest. Yeah I do have a problem with him being labeled as a consevationist because He is NO Green Peace or the Sierra club(he is just looking out for himself and his business empire). His hotels are generating jobs and fededing people and I am anything about that either.
Thamel became Thamel because of rampant Drug problem in Freak Street not because KGH.
Have fun at the talk. :-)
P.S. Since you already volunteered why don't you ask the questions for me.
Hey BathroomCoffee Dude, Why are you being so negative? Its ok if you don't wanna attend it but let people listen to him and analyze him what he say. Peace bro.
my friend emailed me about this guy's book called 'Socha and Gara' but i haven't done that yet.
so can anyone tell me why such a big issue for a book written by a shrewed businessman? has anybody read it? pls shed some light.
my question for mr.Shakya - Ecotourism is deeply rooted in Nepal for more than three decades and it is one of the major contributor to our economy. However, we haven't seen any improvement in the development of Nepal nor it has helped to uplift the livelihood of locals that lives in the vicinity of national parks and reserves. For example - the 7 km strip of road that connects Chitwan National Park to the highway still wears the looks from 20 years ago. nothing has changed its face. it falls victim to annual monsoon flood and nobody does anything. But it is true that some made fortune from tourism business like you and now you publish a book that has suddenly made you a celebrity?? Remember, I haven't read your book yet and as a veteran in the tourism industry - you should know these questions are legit.
One last question - do you know anything about green leaking and if you do know, how can we prevent it and pls do not give me the age old answer - our system is weak. we all know know that but I wanna know your answer. hope the questions are not too long.
I remember my first meeting with Mr. Shakya. It was in a European city and we were attending a program. They were there for three days. At that time I knew him by name as owner of Kathmandu guest only. We happen to sit together in a function; I introduced myself (by name only). He replied I am Karna Shakya.
I thought ok this is the owner of the Kathmandu guest house. They were staying in one of the expensive hotel in the sea beach. My condo was about five min walk from there. I invited him for dinner. He looked at me as if saying “hey kid do you know who am I? Haven’t I told you that I am staying in the most expensive hotel?
I don’t want to visit ordinary ppls home.” But answered “kaha dinner garney fursat hunu, ekchin fursat chaina malai”. I didn’t tell him in which company and at what capacity I was working (I don’t like boasting) just said ok, “teso vaye aaru kunai deen:”
It is very rude not to accept when someone from your country invites you for dinner with some lame excuse. In my opinion the way he said no to my invitation was very rude. He at least, could have shown some politeness by saying “Bhai hami haru dherai byasta chhau mildaina hola dinner ko lagi tara dhanyabad hai invite gareko ma” or something similar like that. May be the guy wanted to spend the night in the bar of the Hotel. I was very young compared to him, may be he was thinking “khaa yo khatey ko invitation ma gai rahaney” hotel ma masti garna chhodera or “yo student hola ma sanga kehi help magne hola yo khatey le, yesh lai jasari vaye pani panchaunu parcha”
He didn’t bother to ask “tapai yaha ke garnu/gardai hunuhuncha” By not asking what I am doing in Europe he missed the opportunity to know a Nepali guy who has achieved remarkably at young age and I came to know his real face.
Yeah, in later days he may have changed because of the age/disease or may be because of the family tragedy etc. I haven’t read his books and have no desire to do so.
Personally for me he is like other Nepali political leaders who do one thing and say another.
Your story is a stark reminder of the perils of social snobbery. I guess you never know when that snobbery - perceived or real - may come back to bite you. However, I suppose no one is perfect. Mr Shakya I am sure has his flaws. As do you and I and all the numerous speakers before him who have spoken at Nepali functions in Boston. I can, however, vouch that he is a man with interesting ideas and opinions - not sure if you got to see that part of him in your interactions with him.
To the larger point in the thread, I feel attending a talk program of this nature - with two-way conversations - doesn't mean you have to like the speaker or agree with him. Showing up should not be construed as an endorsement IMO. Listening to someone, asking questions of them and engaging in meaningful discourse is a great way to take in new ideas and gain new perspective. More so if you disagree with the speaker. I found Prachanda's and Baburam's talk programs terrific - precisely because I disagreed with them about most things
Shirish and Bathroom Coffee -

From Trump “I will revoke TPS, and deport them back to their country.”
