Hi y'all.....!

This is probably a boring thread but just was curious to know if you have any REGRETS at all? From the past, any actions, any decisions and what happened....etc..

Myself:

I regret ...getting into a serious relationship when i was younger around 17 yrs old. Should have played it cooler. He was just a boy who didn't understand anything. The experience did age me somewhat.

Love to hear your stories.....

I regret.....getting into a meaningless relationship when I was barely 17, she was 16/15. That wasn't even love. We never kissed, never hugged,never.... ( bizarre I know). I felt I was in love, she felt the same. As a matter of fact, she thought that was the ultimate love or "The love of her life as you call it". How? Only she knows.

Why I regret it? I don't miss a thing about it! Nothing. All we did was talk on the phone, most of the time. That's all. Again, why I regret it? Its been almost 7-8 years and she talks about it as if she doesn't miss a single thing. How'd I hear about her talking about it? She tells these things to my friends. Of course, I've blocked her ( on my msn and facebook ).

To this day, she happens to be my biggest regret, and dare I say, my only Nepali "girlfriend"?

Quaggy,

Similar experience huh.....real bummer aint it.....thank god those days are long gone...don't want to acquire any more weirdos in our lives do we. Around the age of 17, not many seem to make good decisions it seems! Thank god i'm not the only one! I haven't got my ex on my Facebook thank gawd even though the goddamned thing keeps suggesting him to me! Well I think ur ex got caught up in the moment of romanticism or possibly watched a few too many errrr Bollywood movies!

But what's this about her being the only Nepali girlfriend?  Are u generalising all Nep girls now? Oh how rude Quaggy...

GrgDai,

I suppose u have to try squeeze out some kind of entertainment from Sajha in order to make the time spent seem sort of worthwhile!

Syanjali,

You're right, things that occured in yesteryears still impact our lives in the present and probably still carrying some depression over. Oh man, i forbid myself from making any more bad decisions...i seem to have a knack for it! I think i will choose a sensible person to make my decisions for me for a while..see how that fairs! Remember Monica did that for Rachel in Friends..? Lol...

I learn there are medicines for regrets. Of which one of them I learned is: whatever/whichever decisions I have made in my life/about my life, at that time I made it with my best information sources, knowledge, and wisdom that I acquired. It is unfair to compare or judge my past decisions to the present moment (I would not have made any decisions to hurt myself) because I keep learning and my wisdom keep widening; life as a process. This medicine heals me.

Saying YES to life.

Subrath,

Beautiful inspiring words my friend.... of course at certain times in our life, there was not enough wisdom to make what would be classed as a 'good decision' .... but certainly, we learn from mistakes and acquire better knowledge for the next time round. The beauty of growing wisdom! Thanks for some great medicinal words, love it.

Any more regrettable stories?

well, i hardly write anything on sajha but i dont know why, really felt like writing on this thread.
i was in class 11 and fell in love with a girl. i proposed to her via one of my friends and found that she also loves me. it went on for, i guess, hardly four months. then she left the school coz she got admitted to another school. after that we just talked on phone. i still remember that day when i got a call from a boy and he told me that she doesn't want me to be around her house. i got pissed off and emailed her that we should break up.
now i regret sending that email. it has been around 5 years never seen her but i always miss her.

i've never told this feeling to any one. sharing this here made me lil bit happy.
thnks femme fatale for starting this thread

Subrath, You hit the nail right in the head, and 'teyo pani right in the center. Miilion $ worth answer. Things were just different then. You were 16/17 or even 18. All you thought was - parents were the wrost thing. ( you know what I am talking about.............times when.........).

I do have so many memories and experience. However, I never regret those. Everything that I did, few of them were small mistakes and very few a huge one. As a result, I grew stronger and more productive. I am proud, where I am today, and what I am doing. I know I still want to change few things or I still wished things were different.

Femme fatale........here are fews....Left the house and ran away at the age of 16/or 17, after stealing 45000 (Nrs) of dad's money. Took the flight to Patna N then to Mumbai. Got back home the next night, after I got caught by a guy at mumbai airport, who called my parents back home. And when I look back, this is the greatest thing that someone has done for me. No one could even dare to talk to me loudly at house for few months. I changed and so do my view.

When came to america for the first time..........so many things here..........

Another one a relationship with a girl, a most bitter one. But thanks to her, I learned how to say 'NO' and learned so many things...... the only thing I wished didn't happen was my view point to someone after that realtionship, who loved me simply who I was. I still missed her ( not the bitter one, the one who cared me and loved me, but my view point were just different).

I still have all my frds in my facebook, except the bitter one. The one ( which was also a part of my running home at 17. now there were more reasons that I left the hosue) got married recently. I wished her. She seems happy,a nd So Do I. I still talk to her ( who loved me, to whom I think I treated very unfaily). she is from Mexcio, and I even went to see her to mexcio, when she was dating someone there. she seems happy. and So do I.

there are others. But everytime I fell, it took me time to get up. But, boy when i ge up, I started walking hard, and now I think I left everyone behind.

I take everything as a part of learning process. They were bound to happen. I have no regrets.

* it is nice that whoever takes whatever as a learning process... that is what we all should be striving for. in my case too, i learn not only from my experiences and from others too..

BUT for all who say that they dont regret anything,   Puck You All..
if you dont regret anything, you are more than likely that you cannot accept your mistakes and "Sorry" is something you have to dig for!

Stop pouring all those'feel good' philosophical crap...so once again Puck You All... coz I ve made many mistakes and I regret them, but I also learn from them... It doesnt spare me of the chance to say sorry.

Learning from a mistake, does not change the fact that it is a mistake! And if your mistake involves other people, I think, it will be pretty hard to explain it to them as well..

soullesseye, boy u really fired up.......................did i offeneded you that much? or even try to hurt you?...........my appology, if so.........but never went for that...........for me anything that you do with full consious, and you knew what will be the aftermath - the goods and the bads. the result is not a regret, it was what you choose and you learned with ur experince. I think it's just the way I see regret or even define ( not the dictionary meaning; my personal perspective) it is different than you, and may be many of you out there. Now, if you ask me DO i regret running from home and make suffer everyone in my family. Absoluetly not, It made me differnt person. In one night i was just not same person when I left. I know you would say that it was a miastke. How come i would regret something that brought so many good changes on me. yeha, there are few things that I wished had happen differntly. May be you are right I regret these. U know as a matter of fact I regret the way I treated the girl from Mexcio. But believe me  will I do the same again? Absoluetly not. I learned here. I grew much older. I still miss her. some things in life are just beyond our underatsdings, and I try to aviod those as much as I can. But, no matter how gard I do, there are days, when i think about them and feel sad. .....Well, I can go all day here over same thing....But that would make no difference, and We know we are just different and so do the things we view.........

Femme_fatale,

When I said, "my only Nepali "girlfriend"" I clearly mentioned that she was the only Nepali girlfriend I've ever had in my life. I haven't dated any other Nepali girl since her.

Soullesseye,

I regret it because she makes a meal of our "relationship" while talking to my friends and thats what makes me feel sick! Its not like we were supposed to get married, is it? Besides, we didn't even kiss a single time! Talk about love!

thats soo unlikely the really quagmire....giggidy giggidy

anyho...my biggest regret right now is not to know what i am doing with my career/life and not being able to make a HUGE DIFFERENCE as i always thought I would...my biggest regret is getting sucked into the viscious cycle of school, stupid works and assignemnt and not being able to enjoy my life to the fullest!!

I regret for not visiting so many beautiful places in Nepal (when I was in Nepal) and not knowing my country within. Now when I look pictures from Nepal like Mustang, Muktinath, Palpa, Illam and countless others, I feel disheartened. Will I ever be able to get the same joy if I had visited back then, when I visit after couple of years (uncertain).
It's something beside love and infatuation guys.
