Yea...people forget who they are and try to seem sensible claiming to be practical, reasonable, pragmatic or whatever the buzzword they can use to make that credible. You go man, you are very practical.

Umm...asinine might it sound, but I sort of identify with fat beast's sentiment.
Also, eternalsunshine, such vile was uncalled for.
I have often struggled with the idea of patriotism and have questioned myself whether I really love Nepal more than America - the verdict - I clearly don't. But before you point fingers on a traitor in me, kindly hear my self evaluation, and if you reflect closely, majority of you might be in the same boat (but perhaps do not admit).
1. I had undergone a gruesome share of melancholiness and frustration before acquiring my permanent residency several years ago, I could have chosen to return to Nepal, but even the slightest thought of returning was as bad as a nightmare then.
2. I care least about economic conditions of Nepal, but worry if my 401K would take the beating once again.
3. I do not care about the escalating real estate prices in Kathmandu which probably makes my parents richer every passing second but I care deeply about the price tag of the house I am currently living in. I'd be extremely happy if I could sell it for mere 10K dollars more than the purchase price.
4. I chip in few 'feel good' dollars once in a while to some unknown NGO in Nepal, but if I were coerced to quit working here and work towards alleviation of poors in Dailekh, I'd probably relocate to New Zealand.
5. I 'like' the page 'Buddha was born in Nepal......' every time I come across it in any social network site, but if you ask me to go and protest in New Delhi or in Lumbini, I am least interested.
6. I am ready to give away my ten day's salary to Steven Tyler if it buys me a photograph sitting next to him, you will NEVER see me doing that with someone in 1974 AD.
7. I devour angus burger mercilessly yet participate in lakshmi Puja involuntarily.
8. I hate all political personalities in Nepal, vote for monarchy, to hate the king eventually. But I hate Bill O' Riley and Rush Limbaugh even more.
9. There are tons of muderers still at large in Nepal, some maoists even have become a good samaritan which makes me a little perturbed, but I do not hate them as much as I resent Casey Anthony.
10. I love United states, this country has given me freedom my country never could, I eat good, see good, eat, think and talk good, something I perhaps would nevre get a chance of doing in Nepal.
So, am I a traitor? Hell yes, but at least I am happy.

From my point of view,
1. I don't hate indians as much as most of our friends do in Sajha,
2. I am not too worried if Buddha was born in India or Nepal.
3. I have very close indian friends.
4. But I can never never stay quite when someone asks if I am from India, Even that person doesn't know if Nepal is a country I go in whole length to teach him Geography and say I am from a very small country and I am proud to be from there.
Me lagi ta yo kasto bhanda,
Yedi timro ama is bad looking dalli etc cha bhane ra chimeki ko ama chai ramro personality ko cha bhane ra sabai le chincha bhane, do you go to people and say that your chimekiko ama is your ama. Noooo noooo no way.
Yo jeu ma ekthopa sas huda samma tyo sas le pani ma nepali ho bhancha.

Eternalsunshine: in that Case I would show him Some real Indian ass to go fnck with : )
Behoove : couldn't agree more !!
Bodmas: that's what my problem is, I don't think it's worthwhile to spend my time on being proud of something that people don't even care if it exist or not for instance gautam Buddha and mt everest ( see even iOS didn't cared to capatilize gautam )

Call yourself what you may, but at the end of the day it's how you act. There are many 'quires' as individuals or in non-profits who are doing more for Nepal than you and I are. Are they less 'lovers of Nepal' than many so-called patriots? Those non-Nepalese every day actions are speaking a lot louder than yours and mine words in sajha.
You don't have to keep singing 'jaya Nepal' bhajans to be able to do good for Nepal. I think many non-Nepali 'quires' show that by their example everyday by how much they are doing for Nepal.
There are many people who call themself Nepalese but hurt Nepal by their action and lifestyle. There are many people who don't call themself a Nepali, but help and develop Nepal by their words and action. So which of the two above is a bigger Nepali?

To love Nepal, do not hate US or India. Just carry yourself with some pride that you are Nepali--just as Indians and Americans do..we must be proud of who we are..doesnt mean u go badmouthing other people's cultures and countries..if we didnt love US we wouldnt be here, but that doesnt mean we badmouth our country either....Nepal is my heart--and US prolly the brain like nAS said.

They hate indians here in US as well. Now, What ???? In Nepal they are Known as "Dhoti" and/or "Khali sisi" only but, here Indians are notoriously popular for their "Bad smell" .Americans call them "Curry Munchers" and in some worst case they don't even consider them as "Asians".Some republican friends of mine go one step further and prefer to call them "Asian kaalezzz". It's fact and i feel that way that the Americans and many Europeans give much respect and sympathy towards Nepalizz than to the kale indianzz--- home of Buddha, Brave Gurkhas( fought many wars and is still fighting and aiding NATO and American troops in Iraq and Afganistan and many more-British Gurkha platoonz),World famouse mountaineers are some of the reasons why..
Those words up there may sound bitter and kind of absurd but, the point is that people call you name no matter what race or caste you are,for inatance --[Disallowed String for - castist references disallowed],[Disallowed String for - castist references disallowed],Tapari,Chyatare,Katto [Disallowed String for - castist references disallowed] u name it, and whereever you are from. It's totally upto you how to perceive it,behave and use that educated mind to deal with those old fart and Idiotz. Also,Just because some individual or a small group of old fart call you name doesn't mean that whole nation and it's people fall into the same catagory. It's not fair to hate/criticize the whole nation where you grew up and it's people for the idiotic prejudice behaviour of some people. No matter where you go, you will find someone there to disparage and criticize you. Therefore,it seems to me that your real education, whatever grade you are in right now, is still not helping you. Now, do this.Work on " what if" theory using your intellectual mind to see things in a different way since you sounds like a educated fella( i wonder what goes into the un-educated peoplez mind-if so called educated is behaving like this :)) .Anyway! Change your perception, your lens, and try to see the things with that new lens. If you can't view things with different perspectives, you will have problems even if you become or call yourself Indian from Nepali. some one will be there to find fault on your kaale RAJNIKANT look !! lol

Okay birkrishne Tori I thought I will get by this thread without starting a troll on someone but since you seem too phaking dumb to understand my motive behind creating this thread let me make it more clear to u, I didnt created this to discuss why I think the way I think nor I was expecting an opinion from a dumb-ass like you, The sole purpose of this thread was to help those Ill minded hypocrites with misplaced patriotism who agree to disagree with the title of this thread, in this Case you. Go see mr Marrach ASAP, you can thank me later.

Yesterday I met a Cardiologist, he asked me, where are you from? I said, "I am from Nepal." He said, "Wow. I am also from Nepal." I looked at this white elderly man again, and said, "You are from Nepal??" he replied, "Yes, spiritually I am. I love Nepal. I visit there every Dashain. That is my home. " Indeed, Timesquare, I know how much Indians are despised even in US..many white people have told me indirectly how they did favors to indians and they only tried to rip them off, they are always thinking about next big way to make profit out of somebody, they always have something to take advantage of in the back of the head.
White people are smart enough to figure this out, us, knowing their "back home" culture, just because our fate has us working for them have suddenly seem to start to "worship" them...I am from Nepal, and I am proud of it. I prefer hiring a Nepali any day over an Indian, and Indians too, will not hire you unless they are taking more advantage from you than there own people or when they can't find their own people.
They are not doing you a favor by giving you a job. They are exploiting your labor five times more than they would be able to with the natives....They are no angels, no matter where they go..they have the "das mentality" of oppression that the British left for them..and they practice the system of oppression very well in everything they do...!!!

If you can't talk 30 seconds to educate someone about your being a Nepali, you are just plain incompetent, inarticulate, lazy douchebag.
Maybe that's why you are a fat beast. Fat because you are lazy. Beast because you have no sense of self identity nor self worth to correct anyone who calls you somebody you are not.
