Here's my scenario:
I have completed my MBA in US and no good luck finding a REAL job here in US. Have been working some shady jobs to survive and maintaining status joining community college right now. Recently, I have been offered a Job from one of the Private Banks in Kathmandu and they're offering me  Rs. 30,000 per month...Personally, i think it's better than working here low paying jobs. I've a house in KTM , so don't have to pay any Rent..I don't really want to stay in US.

What worries me is: All my friends are here and i won't have lots of friends in Nepal.
I know it's always good to go back to Nepal but i don't know how i'll feel in Nepal. I am scared as well.
What should i do ? Should i return home ?

I am also scared that after seeing  pictures of my friends going to Beach here in US, partying, driving nice car on Facebook will drive me crazy and unsatisfied in Nepal?

Any inputs will be appreciated. Positive or Negative.

Nice Guy with MBA.

Sorry about the ($) typo instead of Rs.

With a salary of  "$30,000 per month" you can visit US often to do all sorts of things your buddies do. If I were you, I would accept the offer.

I am pretty sure it's Rupees 30K. You won't get $30K in US as an entry level banker (a teller actually makes that in a year, almost), forget Nepal.
Anyways, before you take the offer, do a good research on the bank. There banks and co-ops like mushroom in Nepal and many will fail before saturation happens. Rupees 30K a month is not a bad but is not that great either.

If at all it is real, get the f**k outta here and live a royal life.

Guys Sorry about the typo. It's suppose to be Rs. 30,000 per month. I've already updated it..
We're used to writing $ here that's why i made that mistake.

In my opinion it depends on what kind of life you wanna live. If you think Nepal is nice place to live you can go. But if are talking about money only...its not much on Nepal's mahangi bro...but going back to Nepal living with your family is not bad idea.

$30,000 /months are u kidding me ? Nepal ma PM lay ni paudai na 21 Lakh /months. There are not such type of bank who offer that much money, even Rs. 30,000 in entering level unless you have some sorts of Banking experience before. Tayhi bhayera sathi yesto faltu kura garay ra na basa ...... Just open the new budget book for this year and look how much salary the Govt are paying to there employes waiyat.....

Negotiate your salary for about 50,000 per month. I know people who make much more than that in banks in Nepal with US degrees. Then it will be worth it.

Once again: Guys It is not $30,000 per month. It is Rs. 30,000 per month. I've already mentioned that in previous post.

@champ:
It's not a government Bank. YES , I am offered Rs.30,000 per month from one of the Private Bank. Believe it or not, People are making around Rs 40,000 per month in Nepal these days. I am talking about Private Banks not Krishi Bikash Bank.

why stay here and work for scrap if you don't have a job lined up or if status maintainance is bothering you and i know maintaining status is a bitch. The situation in many ways might be sucky back home but once you are inside your home, everything is heaven. Friends and families will always be there. I would go back if I had been in your shoes but then i don't know what kind of situation you or your family might be in and if Rs 30,000 will be enough. As someone else pointed with the inflation and price hikes in Nepal that might not be too much however; you have to understand that there are hundreds of other people in Nepal with MBS degree who will die to have a chance as yours.

30,000 NRs / month is not a bad deal. it's a good amount of money. in fact, it's lot better than what engineers working for government earn (not counting ghus). and since you have house in kathmandu, that's even better - no rent, and best of all - you'll be with your family! and your bank will probably give you a bike for transportation. if they don't ask for one because it's normal. even a +2 graduate working as/for a broker gets bike these days. you'll be living a good, respectful life earning good money. but before you jump in, make sure the bank is good/stable one.
well, you'll miss beaches, drink parties, and stuffs like that here but that's getting more common in Nepal these days, besides the beach of course! you'll soon make friends. if you can't get a job you like here in the States, there is no point in staying. grab the opportunity and go home. try to negotiate salary too. good luck!
