Prem Pujari, The classical dance numbers in hindi film history have always been dominated by vaijayanti mala, hema malini, rekha and madhuri dixit.Iin the quest of putting forth their eulogies towards these actresses, most forget another dancing juggernaut, no one else but Waheeda Rahman, with fewer films to her credit compared to her successors and predecessors, she still ruled the silver screen with immaculate acting - and dancing too.
This song was my mother's favorite, she often sang it on lull afternoons caressing my hair on a sofa, I would instantly go to sleep. This film, mind you this film was my best bachchan movie.
JG, I have seen Bemisaal but to tell the truth I didn't quite understand the movie. It was too complicated.
Bemisaal reminds me of another AB-Rakhi-Vinod Mehra triangle Jurmana ....Lovely songs in that one too. My fave is "Sawan ke jhoole pade/Tum chale aao." Couldn't find it on youtube -- here is the link to the song on musicindiaonline.com
For those of you who love the classic songs from Teesri Manzil .........
RD Burman, the musical genius of the 70s/80s was quite fascinated with Nepali music and would sometimes lift Nepali tunes for his songs. This song "Deewana mujhsa nahi is amber ke neeche" is one such song. If you listen carefully the tune is a xerox copy of the famous Nepali classic "Eh kanchha malai sun ko tara tipi deu na/Tei tara matara hoina jun pani jhari diula." Beautiful songs, both of them!

DWI,
Thank you for your input.
There is a word "disfluency" (opposite of "fluency") to describe all kind of words inserted in a speech to disrupt it's fluency. I guess I was looking for this word.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speech_disfluencies
I am now trying to think of a Nepali equivalent to the word.
Now, I would like to share an unusual romantic song. One of the songs I have sung for umpteenth time in my life, for the reason I can not disclose re kya.
I did not find it in Youtube. However, if you are interested to download mp3, here is the link. Enjoy !

Do you know that R.D. Burman plagiarized the tune of this song from Ambar Gurung 's " E kaanchha malaai sun ko taaraa kahasai deuna". I was in Darj as a boy then and still remember the hulabaloo and later R.D. Burman admitting that he had heard this tune from his 'Bahadur' humming this song in the distance and instantly liking it. So there you go, you have the history of the song :-).
Sorry SimpleGal, I did not read your post that was posted below the video hence janne bhayera posting garyaa maile hera na! Kyaa fasaad!! sorry hai.. But I corroborated your statement.. so it is official, people... R. D. is a plagiarist!!
More on that, Roshan (?? or who I don't exactly remember) was the biggest plagiarist in Hindi film music. ""... hai mushkil hai jeena yahaa, jaraa bachake, jaraa hatke ye hai bombay meri jaa", "Itanaa naa mujhase tu pyaar badhaa, ki mai ek baadal aawaaraa" "aajaa sanam madhura chaadani me ham." and many more (which I can't remember now) were all copied from nursery rhymes and italian folk tunes.
I don't know about "Yeh hai bombay meri jaan" but when I heard "itna na mujhse tu pyar badha" I knew instantly that it was copied from a Mozart symphony. During an Opera class that I took in high school in NYC, we had to listen to and attend operas that had compositions by Mozart, Verdi, and Beethoven. So, when I came across the hindi song later on, I was shocked to see the stark similarities.
But then again, Bollywood is infamous for being inspired by international works. :-)
