When i was a kid (or when i was in Nepal), i used to believe in God. I did however have reservations on religion but i still believed in God. Its been a year in US now and having met people from other cultures, the existence of a supreme being doesnt make sense anymore.
I think that believeing in GOd instills in a person faith, confidence and positivity to get through good times and be appreciative of the bad ones. I want my children to have these qualities so i dont want to tell them that GOd doesnt exist. Moreover, i cant imagine what my parents/relatives will make of me when i talk to them about this. It isnt going to be pretty.
It does give me great discomfort to think about all this. I must admit i feel less confident and more pessimistic these days. I want to believe in God but my logic doesnt give in anymore. In fact, i get irritated when i hear things like "God COMMANDED you to.." "GOd will PUNISH you if..", "We are SERVANTS in from of Him" "(on Christianity): "Jesus died on the cross for you"(THere are many who have made a similar magnitude of sacrifice).
I think that God and religion are ancient theories that havent been discarded yet. And it hasnt due to the fear in people of what might happen if they didnt. One of my teachers once said "if there is no god and you believe in god, there is no harm but if there is god and you dont believe in god, there is harm". i feel this and cultural and social stigmas lead people to be religious and not question their beliefs.
I wanna know what you guys make of this.

Homeyji doesn't even realize how he's being played for a fool. This is a game without a referee. Anyone can play foul and no one there is to call it out. LOL. And Homeyji is trying to play by the rules when the other players are fouling. What a joke?
Freedom to foul at will, push other players at will. Freedom to make fun of the referee with no 'red card' or 'yellow card' in the game? LOL. What do you expect? The jungle with wild animals has more rules than this thread does. At least the animals are ruled by their instincts based on their species. These two morons are worse than wild animals.
And stupid Homeyji is trying to discuss philosophy and spirituality in such a forum? You're dumber than I thought, moron.

LOL@ Homeyji, why did it take you so long to realize that all these idiots were doing were making fun of you and that they don't take this topic seroiusly at all? For them it was just entertainment. And you were sitting there talking all this logic and reasoning. LOL. I had figured out the game these two were playing a long time ago. If you look at all their useless comments in previous threads, it doesn't take a lot of imagination to see what their real lives outside of sajha must look like.
LOL. And you were discussing philosophy and spirituality with these two? I'm dying laughing here, Homeyji. If you look at most topics on sajha in general, you should have known that most of the people who come to this site can't handle a serious topic like this. Wake up and smell the flowers, my friend. Go to some other site where there are serious intellectuals!
Jackass!

@homey, I mean it's obvious that you're a pretty smart guy. What I don't understand is why it is that you didn't see that these two don't respect anything other than their opinion that changes by the minute? Why didn't you see what I saw: that these two have no values or principles? Were you blind, idiot?
Why didn't you call their verbal diarrea for what it is? Why did you tolerate so much for so long from these two?
I have no respect for people like you who don't stand up for themselves and don't fight back!
Homey, I'm talking to you. Where are you, you coward?

@homey, don't you get it? This was a rigged gambling match. These two came with nothing and will leave with nothing. But you had everything to lose. Why did you play in such a game? Do you have a gambling problem?

@homey: See? Most of the conversation on this thread, goes right over the head of these morons. Homey, someone like you can't talk down at the level that these fools function. I feel sorry for you that you didn't understand that through all the posts that you made. You were casting pearl before swine.
Why waste your valuable words on fools of this caliber? I'm sure it's pretty clear to you by now what they really want and what motivates these idiots.

Budmash since you obviously cannot stick to the topic of discussion and you have to call others idiots who don't agree with you, and since you have to repeat some indian ukhan to keep yourself from crying, you need to change your name to "Runche" from Budmash.
It is very clear that you consider Homeyji your guru, that is why you keep praying in his name.
Homeyji, please cum back to help your chela out. He is dying for your compassion and to hear something from you because obviously he cannot argue with points without taking it personally just like you.
Jaisa Guru, waisa chela; dono narak mein thelam thela” - this ukhan is better suited for you budmash and your master homeyji. I hear it's too hot out there in narak. Do us a favor and take of your pants before you do thelam thela.

I thinkit'd be better to share wisdom and knowledge than utterly obnoxious your 'who's better than who' attitude in this post.
the question was
'You believe in God?"
and look at the answers.. 'you are a fool, no you are an idiot, no, you are... '
common, act like grownups.
ton's of people will land on this page as a result of google search and such , and when they see bunch of people quarelling like kids on such a thoughtful topic,??? ' aafno dhoti phuskauney kaam nagara ho bhai haru' .

@Bittertruth, ....And you feel that you are not making the same mistake that Homeyji made by assuming that these two have the ability to have decent conversation?
You seem to have more faith in these two than most of us have....

@budmash, human emotion and attitude is just like water., it needs some times and eventually it'll change. I don't have faith on anyone of here.. just saying. hopefully, they'll come up with decent words..

BitterTruth,
I am sorry to say, but here, I agree with Budmash. The truth is bitter. But I will swallow it.
I will quote my own words that I had cited in a different context in another thread:
http://sajha.com/sajha/html/index.cfm?threadid=93593#838028
BitterTruth,
You say that water's nature is like human nature. Well, water's nature is to flow downwards, being pulled by gravity. That is why all the river's flow down. Do you know any rivers that flow upward? Human nature is also constantly being pulled downwards by the force of gravity.
The pull of social gravity is very restrictive. Freedom to do one's best only comes once you have put a distance between yourself and this social gravity. But it takes a lot of energy to break out of this social gravity. It takes conscious effort. But it is not impossible. It does not happen automatically like you believe.
A rocket ship without enough propulsion moving forward, will go backward. A rocketship needs deliberate and constant power to break out of the gravitational forces on earth that trap it. Especially when it is locked in a static position within the earths gravity, the rocketship needs a lot of energy before it gains enough momentum. Do you disagree?
If we are moving backward then that means that we as a society: you and I and everyone else....we are not putting enough energy in moving 'forward.' That is why we constantly find ourselves trapped in the earth's gravity. It is this social gravity that we cannot escape.
Sometimes the best way to love the people older than you is to show them that there is a better way. This takes courage and strength. You can't fake it.
Where are we going to get the power to break through this social gravity? I think that we need to be willing to build a 'social rocket ship.'
Any ideas how to build one? First we have to build a Nepali NASA .
What is a Nepali NASA?
It is a group of people who are serious and dedicated about wanting to break through the social gravity that traps us Nepalese as a society. First you need a body of serious people who are committed towards this effort: who see the urgency and importance of this mission.
So who wants to create a NASA?

homey ji, you got me wrong,
water changes it's substance form according to the given environment, you put water in glass, it becomes glass, you put it in bowl , it becomes bowl, you freeze it , it becomes solid ice, and so on. we as human nature is also like water, it's like a weather, it keeps changing.
once democratic, then republican then independent. I see lot of these folks walking down the street and sharing their words to me. why? because their human nature is so volatile that it don't remain same.
as regard to gravity, you could be right, but I was thinkin from different perspective.
there is no social gravity, if there is , that's corruption, it's just about more or less. our nation is infested with corrupt leaders or officials in every department. we should have death penalty for them to stop this gravity else nothing is going to happen
