Let me rephrase the topic. I love my friend, lets not classify it as bahun or newar. He is hilarious, he has one of the best sense of humour in the whole world. I have known him for over 10 years and he is a great friend. Write about your friends. Spread peace and love, not hatred!

In my case, I belong to one caste n look way different. Ppl have mistaken me for a gurung, a newar, a magar, a latino, a philipino, a vietnami, an InDoNeSian, an Indian n so many.....I have the knowledge of quite a few national languages. My dad n mom are multilingual. I have frens from all corners of social seggregation. Now , can I say I m kinda exemplary for racial harmony?

I respect to all our culture and traditions, but for me caste system is nowdays not realistic, it is not part of the social time we are living now, all the nations have an evolution in their historical social life, for me it is just THE NEPALI COMMUNITY, not caste and not differences between any nepali citizen, I live outside Nepal and all my friends from different countries have never asked me if I am Bhaun, Tibetan, Newar or Chhetri etc., Because this just happens in our society.

I respect a lot to the elder people thinking, but even they are thinking different now, and it is not only the thought of the people that is living abroad, my family back home is thinking the same, we are Nepalese for the rest of the world and we are so complicated ourselves, it seems that there are many interest for some people to keep our society separated and not together, just expressing what I think about this and I love to my Nepali community, and I am not the only one as someone called me in a different thread "wonderful exception" because of my interracial marriage, I love to my wife from Mexico and now she has a Nepali heart.

There are many nepalese married with other race, then caste system is just part of our history..for me, each one talks with the crystal that looks at the things.

we are 99.99% identical genetically.
the 0.01% difference is for some as**les to feel good about themselves. See God is great and thinks about everyone even the assh**es.

WTF? My gf is Newar and I am frm bahun family. We all are human beings. Caste system were made by fking humans. My gf is great but her family members are not comfortable with our relationship. WTF? Ya' all ma' fkers are stupid.

Bhalujagate, I was also thinking to give a similar thread. Anyway, thanks a lot for the thread that might help to end hatred among castes or at least dominate such kind of talks.

I had many friends during my childhood. One of my best friend was Nepali (people used to call him sarki but I never cared)..we used to hang out a lot...he was a very good student and was studying science at ASCOL).
First and foremost thing in this constituent assembly we need is to completely abolish this freaking caste system. The law needs to ensure that each and every citizen of nepal has equal rights regardless of caste and creed.

We don't need dalit's law or more power for the dalits etc crap.. We just need to ensure that 'EVERYONE IS EQUAL' and this right is protected by LAW..

If a discrimination (physical, verbal, financial, opportunity e.t.c ) is done based on cast of a person, he/she will be severely punished by maximum extent of the law. Only than we can see a new beginning in Nepal.

I live in an apartmant and in the building there is an american lady who has a
Nepali boyfriend.Once I bumped into her in the subway train.She told me."Do you
nepali people judge people according to the caste?'Before I could say anything
She added "Is it true that you judge people according to the shape of the nose?"

I was speechless.I couldnot find a proper word.What is this all about?

Bahun,Newar or anything else we are all the same.

we are one country, we are all Nepales citizens, I love the diversity of my country it make us very rich, I do not believe in differences between nobody, we have the same rights and obligations, as someone already said, we are just human beings, it doesn't matter the caste or race, I don't see the caste or the race in my friends or the person who I love, we are the same.

Intersing kind words...but ......seems like a facade...in hiding real problem....

I think feel goods are good.... I have good friends from all types of ethnic groups.... I agree ethnic attacks are not the way to go....

However feel goods are a cover... I think it is good to get the goods out on to the table sometime.... we don't live in a stepford wives type of community... everyone has biases and no one is immune....

Sometimes it is good to get the most controversial thoughts out into a discussion forum...because it bring in reality to the color coded, candy laden world we live in....

Everyone has a bit of ethnocentric, racist in them.... there is no pure black and white world we live in.....everyone has good and evil within them....

Be blunt state the problem and note that we have a problem, and then truly can we only solve the problem....

Niceness only goes so far.... Truth hurts sometimes but only if we acknowledge the truth can problems be solved…


So why do people feel negative about Newars, Why do we contempt for Bahuns, What do we think of the other ethnic groups…. Everyone should lay it out. …Then can we really address what is, instead of looking at the world through rose-colored glasses…

I believe that we are growing as a society, in every sense, there is a long way yet, but we begin and I can see it in all of us, in the ideas that are being showed in this thread, I am so proud of all my community and more because I am part of it. I believe that we have an evolution, there are many problems now in our society and some are out of our hands, but caste system...I think that we can solve it, depends on us.
