through these years the history we are forced upon are fake not representing Nepal or Nepalese, all the date era described in the books are either of Kathmandu valley or Gorkha. before prithvi Narayan captured Kathmandu it was based on Kathmandu only after his so called unification the next place is Gorkha and than it comes back to Kathmandu valley. so does this mean other places beside these two doesn't have history? we know little bit about other places like Palpa Butwal or Nuwakot only because of the presence of shah king. isn't it high time other places got their names in the history books? just a thought

Nepal's history is mixed with myths and lies. Very few facts are presented. Few years ago I got interested in Nepal's history and bought a history book. I was reading the history of Pashupatinath Temple. And it was written that a cow would constantly spill its milk on a particualr area of brinda Ban (jungle where the temple is now). Then one day the shephard got curious and followed the cow and discovered the place. He saw bright rays or lights emanating from the ground. He dug and found the "shiva lingam" there. Now you tell, should I believe this as a fact or as a myth? Nepal's history is ridiculous.

i ain't taking about equal oppertunity being provided in the books in US what i am saying is everybody has their says in the history book and it's still changing. like till 3 years ago Thomas Jefferson was seen as one of the founding fathers, now he's seen as a slave owner too and people are digging their way in the history. similarly it has to be done in nepal too, every regional history has to have their place in history. maybe if we dig up we might get chance to see how prithivi narayan shah had really unfied nepal and was it worth it for his kins? or why didn't nepalese do anything when rana bahadur's evil deeds was sweeping the country. etc.

History in Nepal should be written from time period phase wise, first the origin of the land, mountains, nation since any linkable resources. Put in key major incidences of the decade, incorporating and encompasing all Nepalese within and without, like world wars, migration during British colonism, till now. Cite, significant social, economic and cultural incidences and contribuiters, with a brief about his/her introduction. Cite the villians and their misdeeds and efforts to rectify them. Top view dissection will be better reflection of history than arranging sweep up approach, my 1 and 1/2 cents.

Here no one is claiming that Only one sided history be written but our fundamental problem is lack of information. For example, Yesterday, I read one Article from merosansar about Pashupati Nath Temple, Pashupathinath Temple has historical significance but we do not know that how much economical benefits palace will get from that temple. may be some money will be siphoned off from that temple and in the past may be sent by Kings and bhardars to outside to make outsider's happy........I mean we have to start digging facts.

Gentlemen, I just goggled history of Magar and found lots of things. if there was no history of Magras how come all those things appear in Google? there are books the basic book is "Mechi dekhi Mahakali" it gives some basic idea about different tribes of nepal. and there is also a book written by Yogi Naraharinath. Anyway just by Goggling you will come to know so many things about "Magars" and so is about other cast. So please do research before writing something, it helps The information about different ethnicity may not be available in depth. General information is good enough for ordinary people who want to know in general. If you want to know in depth about different ethnic groups of Nepal (I think there are about 100 different ethnic groups in Nepal) and if there is no books available the best thing I believe is to select that field for you future study, one can do PhD in any ethnic group and if you are already done with study you can finance the study or start PhD programme on it or announce some monitory award whomever write the book about the ethnicity of your concern. Please don’t dictate that the kids in school need to study in depth history. They just need to learn general history; mostly they need to learn is science, mathematics and management so that they can compete with the world. And for those who are not interested in those fields they can choose history (or any other subject) and I believe it must be world history with reference to the ethnic groups. but this have limited job market. If you are a middle age person and have kids and if you are so much interested in ethnic history you may try to pursue your kids to study history, if he/she agrees. History is important; it tells how our forefathers lived. But it is not important than your survival at present. If you don’t know the history of some ethnic group you can survive but if you don’t have basic qualification to survive the present, history won’t save you. And, if you believe in science we all evolved from amoeba (single celled organism) then some sort of monkey (may be one or different species, I don’t remember) we know the history of monkey and amoeba don’t we. If you believe in god, its all because of god we don’t need to worry. For me personally I may be interested in history when I am old I don’t know yet, at present I am competing with different ppl in the field of science I need to know more of modern things rather than history. I don’t want to live by knowing what happened in the past rather I want to live by knowing how I can manage the future. It is getting too lengthy I better stop here. Thanks

Too much of Nepalese history documents kings and battles. It is obvious Nepal has a rich history or art and culture. I hope historians and academics concentrate on them in the future.

In fact.... In all Nepali school and university books, Baburam Acharya only wrote Nepali history about Shaha and Rana to get promotion and award from Ruling class or Regime. Exectly like above discussion ... Kathmandu valley, Nuwakot, Gorkha, Prithavi narayan Saha, Jung Bahadur Rana etc. Nepali history must be Re-done or Re-write and officially publish as well as teach in school and universities of Nepal. Currently... We do not know Nepali Actual and real history... because it is not in school and Universtiy books. Even most of the master degree level nepali students and Nepali college, University professor do not know more than 70% Nepali actual history.

It is the most important that you must know Nepal history. If you do not know Nepal history .... you are not suitable person for Nepali government officer position, Army officers, Police Senior officers, Political member.... or just even qualify for sajha discussion. What you know about Nepal and what you are going to say about Nepal?

Do not you that? " No history No human " Where did you born? Did you born from pine tree or from pig? We need to know history. It is the most important for human society and civilization.
