i thot poilo jane means running away with a guy as in eloping...not running away from a husband. and you're right flip_flop...if guys married more than once it's not controversial. LAME

I watched the video, listened to the song. It is good. There is nothing wrong in this song.

May be people got confused with the word "POILA".The song doesn't say that she wanted to have another husband. She just wanted to get married this year.

Even if she had wanted to have another husband, I would not say it is wrong. Anyone can ask whatever they want and everybody is free to speak their mind. Probably god would come and give her conditional blessing. Like: Get Divorce first and then I will get you another husband, otherwise it will be illegal, he he he!!

It's not about Man or Woman. Everyone can see the possible opportunities, re kyaa..

I liked the song.

Komal Oli....you rock!!!

(PS: Did she grow her hair long or it is a fake one??, Just Curious!)

The word that created problem is "Poila"..

As I read the explanations, "poila" in this song is used as going to husbands house..
The general population understands "poila" as elope, i.e. unauthorised marriage by the society when a woman/girl just leaves her parental home and starts to live with a guy..

Poila janu is considered derogatory to the clan in Nepalese society and the social image gets tarnished when a girl from the family elopes, for what ever reason...

Whats wrong even if Komal Oli goes "poila"?

She also has physiological.. psychological and all sort of sexual needs which are perfectly natural.

there is nothing controversial about this song!

we are in hip culture and songs like "katti khep bhannu maile nihu nakhaoj hai...terai Keti...mero gharma hehehehehahahahahahahahah" have been hitting our town, cities, areas, homes...for years now :P

this is perfectly fine song, at least to me. even if she was asking for a divorce it would be fine. even if she was supporting polygamy, it should be OKAY.

so people who think this song is controversial, just turn the radiio(player) off. and shut the "hehehe" up!

Komal Woli, you go girl!!!!!!!!!! " kash main single hota" aaanchhhhhhhhhhh!

LooTe

What a song! It would be better to see more heart opening songs from Nepalis women. That would at least suggest that Nepalis society has not oppressed women as portrayed by many individuals and organizations. It would be spectacular to see the song in which a hen is trapping a rooster than otherwise.

Respect garne ra maya garne kurama garekai chha. Badta batho bhayo bhane thik hudaina. There are certain things the nature has made for women. Equality kai kura garne ho bhane Even in USA kina military ma women participation kam chha? Ke ketiharu keta le jastai gun liyera utikai efficiency ma war garna sakchhan? There are certain things which you should admit.

I am seeing lots of noise being made with Komal Oli's song titled "Poila Jana Pam"..
The word "Poila (to go to poi (husbands) home" is not that derogatory unless it means "to run off with a man other than her husband.." Komal Oli certainly did not mean the later...

Possible scenarios of Poila Gayeko in modern terms:

1. Lots of unmarried couples living together, away fromtheir home (nepal)..
Is that a version of "Poila Gayeko" in girls part?

2. A girl comes from Nepal to visit US or study and finds a guy who is about to have Green Card but decides to get married in US instead of Nepal, without the presence (but consent) of her parents..
- Is this "Poila Gayeko" in girls part ?

3. An eligible bachelor comes to Nepal and finds a girl and works on Marriage Certificate at the Nagarpalika (actually getting married only officially not socially)...
- Is that "Poila Gayeko" in girls part?

BHatiza Bhaiya
Bat komal oli ki nahi. Mai komal oliko achhi taraha se janta hu.Unki abhi tak shadi hui nahi hey. lekin sadi karna hai to ladke dhudna chahiye tab na sadi hogi. Yo gane gake shivalinga ko puja karne se kuchh bhi milne wala nahi. Dusari bat nepali culture ko bhi dekhna hoga. Nepali culture me ladki ko khud aisa ladka chahiye, oisa ladka chahiye batake halla karna bahut sharminda bat hai. Humlog Terai me agar ladki ko shadikarneka umar huwa to achhe kisma ke ladke mabap dhudte he na ki ladki gana gake khud dhude. Patna me bhi waise hi hota hai aur darbhanga me bhi. Ye to Nepal hai bhai. yaha amerika jaisi nangi dhangi bate nahi chalta hai. samaj gaya na.

Laloo

Your statesment contradict each other.

At one point you talk that Shiva Linga wont do anything while about the importance of our culture.

Is not praying Shiva Linga part of our culture?

Don't forget women are not simply objects. They have needs, feelings and wishes too.

Laloo

My sex does not matter..

The culture has changed,is changing, if not we need to change drastically..

"Nepali culture me ladki ko khud aisa ladka chahiye, oisa ladka chahiye batake halla karna bahut sharminda bat hai."

If its a sharminda, let it be..

Then samayukta get naked and walk along the street if you want to change the culture drastically, have sex with your bf or gf open in the park just like an animal because you want to change the so called civilized culture.
