Hi,

I am working in IT and earn about 95k per annum. I am getting tired of the stress at work and want to do something on my own. What should I do? Something that will let me earn a lot of money. Any business I can open in US? (doesn't need to be IT related). Any suggestions would be appreciated. For a young girl like me, you may find me too ambitious...but that is what I am :-)

And in addition to what sidster has said you might want the location to be near colleges esp , where most of the international go to, it helps. If you know what I am talking about!

Let's cut to the chase.

With your salary (US 95K is no joke) why not speak with your accountant, project manager/dept mgr/CIO, personal portfolio manager (I hope you have one), or get in touch with your professional network(s) to lead you to a business advisory service, etc.

You can't be serious seeking investment advice in Sajha; I'd love to give you ideas but this isn't the right place, especially since you don't sound like (I could be wrong) you have business acumen to begin with.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly is it that you do in IT? Can you describe your typical day at work for us?

If you earn so much money already and want to open your own business..Then hire a freakin business consultant ..pay stop asking for a f*ing suggestion in the public tread..

While ignoring your cat-fight with Aznshwty in another thread, you have used vague terms to describe your skills and ambitions. What exactly do you mean by working in IT? Are you a communications engineer, a EE/CE hardware engineer, a high/low level programmer, a network administrator or a web developer? Find out your strengths or expertise first.

Free advice is worth what you paid for. So here is my advice.
If you have enough security clearance, FBI and DHS are willing to throw at least few millions for Face Recognition software that will be embedded with RFID tags in each US passport. Credit Card companies like Mastercard and Visa need a secured server database system to protect their clients from identity theft.

and you would want people of sajha to give you advices on what you should do in your life? If you get so bored doing your 95k job, and then again want another job where you dont get bored AND earn "lots of" money, you shouldnt ask in sajha. People here usually (most) dont have ideas on that (where you dont get bored of working and earn 95k+) and other thing, it depends on your like, what you would not get bored of. So consult your managers and relatives with ideas (if you have).

A few of you doubted whether sajha was not the right place for that. But the answer is clear if you just look at the serious inputs given here (by mansion, PowerGal, sidster etc). Business is all about what you invest and what you get in return. What did I lose by posting this thread here in sajha? Nothing. What did I get by posting this? Suggestions which I needed. Its not that I am going to make my decision solely based upon the postings in Sajha, nor am I in a hurry to start the business tomorrow itself. Some visitors in Sajha may have just garbage to throw at but there are certainly some intellects who have their knowledge to share and to provide valuable suggestions. And at the end, its me/us to take the things we need and filter off the others. Thanks Guys, I appreciate your comments. I look forward to hearing more from you.
