Dear Friends, As you have heard earlier, we engineers in USA would like to initiate a non-profit, non-political and pure technical professional organization, we are watiting patiently for your responses. Please give us some portion of your valuable time to suggest us about the upcoming organization. Its obvious that we are bound with so many personal burdens due to tough life, however, its the time to gather our strengths, get united and do something for the land we were born. Furthermore, its the time for us to be updated with the recent changes in the engineering field. So, please do not hesitate to put forward your ideas, views and suggestions. Your advice will play a vital role in determining the goals and objectives of the organization.

This is a good idea. But you all fail to interpret the terminology of Engineer. Engineer means who engineered, Bachelor degree holding in Engineering is not only a path to be an engineer; there are lots of ways to be an engineer. So, I prefer you, include those person who don't have engineering degree but working as an engineer. It will be helpful you all to define the terminology of engineering and your organization objective will be fulfilling with the experienced person.

Engineer doesn't mean one who engineered: en·gi·neer /ˌɛndʒəˈnɪər/ 1. a person trained and skilled in the design, construction, and use of engines or machines, or in any of various branches of engineering: a mechanical engineer; a civil engineer. With your point of view, engineer would be one who operates and engine too. Engineer, by profession, should be an exclusive profession..otherwise there is no point. It's like saying a literary doctor (with PHD) is same thing as a medical doctor.

I have a friend who is a fries engineer (works in fast food), then there is a kid who is a gasoline engineer (u guessed it), another one is a search engineer as he uses and operates internet searh engine. Point is, if you don't have a way to measure skill (such as a baccalurate degree), then anybody can claim their path to it. Hey big deal, let's just include everybody malai ke matlab.!! (to an engineer matlab means something else, think about it)

Hats off to those energetic people who have started doing this. I am already in the mailing group and I have been getting emails regarding the Nepalese American Engineer's Association. Few things I want to put in here as my opinion: 1. About the name itself, I am not sure if the name is that good. When we say "Nepalese American" doesn't that sound like "African American" or something like that? Why don't make it something like "Association of Nepalese Engineers in America (ANEA)". I had heard that even "Nepal Engineers Association" back in Nepal are trying to change their name to "The Institution of Engineers (Nepal)" so that there will be common name amongst other association within SAARC countries. I am not sure if this will make any effect in our name. 2. About who are to be taken into the Assciation, If I get chance to review the bylaws of Engineering Council in Nepal, I would be able to know whom they consider as an Engineer. I think Engineering Council back in Nepal is the authorized board for Nepalese Engineers. So whoever has the degree that will be accepted by Engineering Council in Nepal should be given the member of this Association. 3. About Objectives and Goals: I think the main objective should be to unite and serve Nepal with whatever we are capable of. Sometimes we might visit Nepal and may want to share our experience and education to new engineers, engineering students. This Association could be a platform to get connected with other people back in Nepal and seminar, meetings etc could be done. 4. I think launching a website would be the great idea to make it popular. Even registering the members as MEMBERS and other people as GUESTS would help new people visit the website and put forward their opinion about it. So, this is what I have thought at this moment. I hope it would be taken as a constructive suggestion you were looking for. my 2 cents Thanks :-)
