Calling all westindian supporter. This world cup is of westindies. The swan song for Brian lara.

Jaba football world cup suru bhako thiyo, i was probably one of the first in sajha one who said italy were destined to win the world cup. Now i will say the same thing for westinidies.

I dont care if i am the only supporter of westinides in sajha because i know nobody could stop the windies.

If you love flamboyance, unorthodox cricket , if you like charisma this room is for you.

world cup Starts today with an opening ceromony at about 2215 GMT and this westindian supporter is back. True we got drubbing by India in the warm up match . But good thing is that if you ever want a drubbing it should be in warm up matches. And i am pretty confident windies will lift the world cup for the third time.

Beautiful shot of the ground there.

Someone here mentioned that Lara is the best cricketer of all time. WRONG.

Yes, he is probably the MOST talented and MOST lethal weapon at his best but what he lacks is heart. IN the early 2000's, Sachin and Lara we considered to be the two best batsman but look where both of them are at. Sachin is probably more determined than Lara but with injuries and let off he has become just another "fixture" on the Indian team. Lara shines sometimes with sweet innings but its consistency that cricket needs, especially for a team that heavily relies on master blaster.

Best batsman of our times, i think are

1) Steve Waugh ( Average doesnt show the cirumstance he scored runs, always playing an inning to remember)
2)Ricky Pointin ( we all agree that he is the BEST batsman now, his average, his consistency, his composure and his leadership, need we say more?)
3) Sachin ( Gotta give him credit for earlier years, he was fun to watch)
4) Lara ( On a day he can wreck havoc, like no other)
5) Dravid /GIlchrist ( One a walll, other a rocket..both sturdy)

Casey 00. Lara wins handsdown in the individual battle. He is the best batsman of his era. His records speaks for himself. He has 3 innings were in top 100 (along with bradman) of all time best innings by wisden where as sachin had none. The kind of innnings that lara can play any other batsman can only dream of.

And of course sachin have been very inconsistent in last 4-5 years and needs not outs to bloat his averages. Great playes not only makes runs but can play array of strokes and dictate the pace of the game. Sachin in last four five years (even at times when he makes runs) have been sluggish and his batting doesnot have aura that lara possess.

How could I miss to join this thread.

I am blind supporter of West-indies as I am blind supporter of Argentina in Football.

Windies should win this worldcup and thus Lara have a well deserved farewell from cricket world.

I love the team. They are practicing hard on their bowling although not at the standard of Walsh and Ambrose.
Go windies..............
Go Lara..............

Namaskar lara will only say farewell to one day cricket. He has clearly said he would not retire from test matches. He does not have privelage mcgrath or warne to leave the team when the team is strong. Well in any case , i am happy at least i can see lara in test matches for probably a year more. It is in test arena where lara has bewitched me for so long.

Lara has played almost 100 ODIs less than Tendulkar.

Further the batsman is tested for his quality in Test Matches.
In one dayers even Dhoni did well in home ground but he neither have footwork nor he knows which direction he is hitting.

Sachin has been out without making a single run for more than 20 times in test matches.
If u really admire cricket then u should admire Lara, how late can he play and the use of feet and wrist. Another such fine player now playing is Inzi though I don't support Pak.

Sachin has records in ODIs but he lags far behind in class cricket when compared with Lara. Lara is awesome. A hindi line: Lara kya hai mara. Go Lara.... Go windies....

only way west indies will win this world cup is if their bowlers can bowl out other teams for less than 100 runs. what a crappy batting lineup - good on paper, a house of cards on the field.

WI is my second favorite team. But to be honest, I think they have very slim chance of winning the cup. i would love to see them lift the cup. But they are very inconsistent. They arent the force that they used to be before. Cricket is on decline in the carribeans, thanks to american influence... more and more youngsters are into basketball and baseball.

If they have to win the cup, Lara has to come up with some special performances and others should ably support him. Their batting is very unpredictable and even bowling is not that good.

If we go by the kind of pitches that we saw in the warm-up matches, countries like SA will be in trouble. Maybe asian teams will do good in those soft-low-spinning pitches.

Bowling is a problem with Windies at this time but the support of home crowd and the commitment of players can make things happen.
For regular two season they are in champions trophy finals and won the first one.
So everything possible.
Good lulk Windies.

Go Windies................... Go Lara......................Go for Big........Huge.....Great.
