No offense to any ethnic groups or anyone..I have lots of friend from different ethnic group i grew up wit n I've got tremendous bond with them,but m surprised to c so many demands on separate state..can we afford ? geographically n economically we are such small country. we had lived in harmony among us for so long;Y can't we just be a united force..fight for the rights..fight for the country n live in harmony rather divide this country into small state.there will be so many state..giving ethnic based state..will dis-advantaged minority group already living there from 100s of years..n most important is country cant' afford it @ all..divide us even more....we should be fighting for the Nation not separate state in my view

I totally agree with rahulvai,maddog grishma..and also other people in the thread. we should be united not divided..if we divide we fail.there were small fraction of people supporting this cause ..because there were only 50000 signature..i think Nepal has way more newari people then that' M happy that we still want to be united as a nepalese..

I am also Newar, Newar speaking Newar of Kathmandu. I am really sad to hear this news. I don't think any newar want a separate newar state. I know a lot of Newar in Kathmandu but don't know anyone actually like separate newar state. So, I am kind of surprised how this protest came out all of sudden. It seems like its another political issue to crack down our capital Kathmandu. So far, Kathmandu is the only little safe area in Nepal and seems like these culprit a*sh*le politicians want to create chaos in capital as well. I feel like shooting these politicians. I think its time for us civil citizens to voice against these stupid acts. Now looking at this issues, seems like Terai issue for separate Madhesh is also propaganda created by politicians but not actually wanted by Madheshi people.

Why don't these politicians voice for something good like research on alternative source of electricity.... There are lots of area of improvement in Nepal beside creating separate states and strikes and protests....

Man whenever i read any interviews of politicians and are being asked of their party's intensions and actions on issues, they shamelessly spin it and say its not them but its Nepali people's intensions and actions. They are shelfishly acting for their benefits and shamelessly crediting onto Nepalese people. Such is this case as well.

i am a newar too and i am also strongly against the demand of the newa soveriegn state.i have lots of newari friends and relatives in nepal, however, i have not seen or heard about anyone of them going for this demand. even in this sajha thread i have not seen a single user going for this demand. then isn't this just an unnecessary issue being created? i think this is another issue that the politicians want to create just to make people busy fighting with each other so that they can fulfill their selfishness.
