 Sajhamitra ji,
I don't know about you and for me english is not my first language. 'Cuisine' the word that guy used is not commonly used. I am sure if you had not gone to English medium school, that word probably made you wonder too. That guy genuinely asked what did it mean to the anchor. And that is right thing to do rather than thinking what it means and answering completely wrong. And what the guy did. He laughed. He laughed and laughed making the guy he is interviewing nervous to answer it. I would rather be embarrased guy to have asked what I did not know  than to be that imbecile, impolite and ignorant guy who thinks everyone should know english as language. It takes courage to ask, at least he had one.

Juggy, apparently you're the one who's hell bent on turning this into a riddle, not I (or many others). The interviewer didn't use a slang. It was a straight forward question to which, the Nepali chap would've been able to answer properly if he had a solid command on English. I'm not ganging up against him (as most people seem to have done on FB) because of his poor English, and I have no problems with him or many others representing Nepal in International conferences for the lack of solid command on Englsih.

I just don't like it when people go above and beyond and trying to muster some words to make themselves understood. Just speak in Nepali and fluently. Speaking outside your comfort zone is a big no-no for me. And yes, it's my personal opinion. I'm not gonna burn a tire or bang my head against the wall in shame because of the incident.

Let's create a commission on finding more proof to support claims on Mr. Subedi, so that Vhotee will backoff and finally say he believes it now. How easily the burden of proof is upon Mr. Subedi, not the person who is slandering him.

The point is, you don't need to know any of his credential to give him a benefit of doubt. I think Juggy printed the scenario eloquently. Fact is, the clip might be funny but we don't need to be ridiculing the gentleman or calling him a disgrace. whether he has done good deeds or not.

The purpose of the program was to make mockery of UN delegates. Do you guys think is that all what he said to the interviewer? Many things might have been edited and just that funny part was exposed. And we all find that is too funny but not a bad or embarrassing thing. Common guys why cant we digest just a simple humor? Americans who are watching this thread might be revolving their eyes not necessarily because of this video but because of the way we are discussing here. At the end it does not matter how a person speak or how a person think, but how the whole community think. And here we are again.
Now let us all say Buddha was born in Nepal, and Mt. Everest is in Nepal and feel utmost proud at these. ~ sarcasm.

Riddle dont take me wrong bro but do you really think we shouldnt  do anything that we dont know? Like speaking english was beyond his comfort zone does that means he should have  never tried speaking it.. By now we all know his ability to speak english and i think man makes mistakes  not to make mistakes again. He now know how much he can speak and may be he will try doing better next time but theres nothing so serious to laugh or make fun and big deal out of it ( I can see on FB people talking shit about him).

Vhootee:
Couple of question for you if you dont mind answering
1. So You think who come to america should/ must have a prior knowledge of english?(Mandatory)?
2. What if that person was appointed for his work (if it is real what it says on blog) and was asked to join the comitee and had no enough timeframe to start learning english? He should have said "No because i dont know how to respond people in english"?.
What if  they dont have the same oppurtunities  that we had.?
4. If anyone approches with the camera, he might have thought its ok to face it than to run away. Whats wrong with it?

PS : tyo manche na mero bau pati ko na aama pati ko and i  am not defending him for any reason. I just couldnt understand some points made on comments.

Kiddo

You don't get the point. How is this incident about a person who could not say a word other than "Rice" became his resume warfare. It is irrelevent. He could be God for I care. The thing we are discussing there is "Did he make a fun of himself".  So what he is a good person, should be be excused for everything beacuse he has done some good deed, atleast according to your blog.

I'm sorry I'm a Nepali and was brought up with doubts. Last time I checked that back in Nepal, people usually don't reach to that level with honesty and hard work. Maybe I grew up in the wrong part of Nepal. See, the Nepal I was born usually have diplomats that are relatives of leaders with no experience. Nepal I was born was all "source and force", nothing was honest. Maybe not the part of Nepal you were born. Go ahead, say I'm a lier and these things don't happen, go ahead if that makes you happy. For some people to believe a blog (my sansar kinda crap) and insist on the credibility to shove it up on our face, probably meand something bigger.

You dragged his resume on this matter, not us. So now you're upset if I saw I don't buy it?

Are you sure you are not related to this chap? Family? Friends? Let me guess, you come from a diplomatic family?

So any one can wear a dhaka topi and embarrass themselves in public and bring down the whole Nepalese community in Sajha and facebook down to their knee.
I wonder what would American or Russian or even Indian would have done over someone embarrassing themselves in public. Well, no need to tell. I know the answer.
If I were that Subedi dai, I would have shown a big middle finger here and said mind your own business sucker.

Ps: I, myself, not minding my own business. But sometimes it is fun trolling.

Leave Mr subedi alone,
I might have hint of what happened in his head. He was brainstorming words to describe how awesome Nepali food is and then slowly images of food started floating in his head and all he could muster was "Rice", "Rice","Rice".

He might have not understood what cuisine means but he definitely understood what food meant. It is just that he was thinking to put it more eloquently. If you think about it, he was perfectly right, Nepali cuisine typically means "Rice","Rice","Rice" as an average Nepali consumes it twice a day.

I think he has come very far; I made my comment thinking of a corrupted diplomat or a NGO worker. I was wrong on this. I applaud for his achievements, wish him the best and support for his noble cause. We need more people like him than the ones who can speak only good english. I hope his agenda and cause can get more support and publicity.
