it might be because its time for me to get married like some of my friends did. sometimes we discuss about marriage. most of my friends think like we have to go back to get married and come back again. I have also seen similar statements in sajha.com as well sometime back. i was thinking abut it and was curious about this thing: most of the time this type of discussion is started by a guy not a girl. do only nepali guy( i dont mean all here) who lives abroad go back to nepal to get married? how about nepali girls (not all)? do they also go back to nepal to get married and come with spouse or they generally dont go back to nepal for marriage purpose?

hmm i really dont care if the girl i get married to is more educated or makes more than me( lol which is not gonna happen ) . but what concerns me or should i say, prevents me from going back to nepal and get married is the fact that, i dont wanna get married to somone, who's had a easy life growing up. now what i mean by that is, i wish i'd get married to someone, who's been in states for a while, and knows what struggle is, who knows how it is to stand in ones own feet and make her own decisions , who knows the toughness and practicleness of life, and appreciated every single small thing. with that note, hope you all get the fiancee / wife that you desire.

Good luck to you south. It is excellent idea to go back to Nepal and get married because that is exactly what I will be doing very soon. What I am hoping for is love, understanding, respect (mutual) and absolutely no bad attitude. There might be some difficulty to get adjusted in US for the wife initially though, but it is worth it.

Many Nepali girls in the US are a tad presumptuous for my tastes, and being a pretty traditional guy, these girls are just not appealing to me. I have met tons of girls of the traditional persuasion in the US of A , but most of these girls predominantly dress like they came straight from some gaun in Nepal, and don't speak even a lick of English. So I'm not talking about the gaunle type--I am using "traditional" in the Western sense of the word. A friend of mine recently got married, and it was arranged, to a Nepalese American born and raised in the United States, who, as far as I know, is pretty laid back and down-to-earth, not to mention traditional. Hell, she doesn't even drink, for crying out loud! That girl's a gem for sure. She has a Master's degree from a good school as well, and makes loads of money--in fact more money than my friend does. So, I would say that this girl is the ideal type for me, although girls of this type are far and few between. To sum it up: 1. I want an intelligent girl. If you're more intelligent than I am, that is not a problem. But please do not rub it in. I want someone who reads books, and lots of them. I want someone with whom I can have quality conversations; with whom I can argue and discuss politics and various other contemporary issues. I want someone with her own views on things. I don't want a yes-woman. 2. I want a traditional girl in the Western sense of the word. Knowing how to look elegent in Western clothing is always a plus. I do not want someone who dresses like a 2-cent hooker either. Just be modest and dress like an American without being too ostentatious. I do not want someone whose idea of dressing classy is showing off the cleavage area. 3. I do not want a motor mouth either. You listen to me, and I listen to you, and that's how things work. 4. I like to spend my precious time alone. I work 5 days a week and I need to rest on weekends. That's how I am. Some people may say that I'm a loner. I'm an introvert, no doubt. I don't mind going to a movie theatre once in a while. I don't want a party animal who drags me to every Nepali party out there. No offense to anyone, but personally, I avoid Nepali parties. I have been to only one Nepali concert a few years ago, and only because my cousin wanted me to go with him, and I must say that I sure as hell didn't enjoy it. 5. My background is different from most Nepalis in the United States. I came to the United States as an immigrant, and not a student. I have my parents right next to me, watching every little move I make--so I have never had the opportunity to indulge in juvenile stuff. I expect my honewala to share this background, if possible. If not, at least empathize with me. 6. I can't cook. But big whoop. Cooking is a learning process. If you don't know how to cook, I'm fine with it. We'll learn it together. 7. You must work. You should have a Master's degree. If you haven't found a job yet, I'll help you out. 8. I don't drink or smoke. I expect you to be of the same persuasion. 9. You don't necessarily have to be in the United States. If you're in Nepal, I'm fine with it as long as you're my type of gal. Hmm, this is it. Of course, you can never find someone who's like you, but this would be the ideal girl I would want.

Mansion. we are human being ..we can change..as circumstances dictates..this is quality of human being. If you came here as student and learnt to struggle then a girl who comes as wife will also learn ..just takes time ..like it took for you. A girl who has been and seen the struggle doesn't necessarily mean that she is willing to stuggle with you after marriage . An ideal partner whether coming from Nepal or USA would stuggle with u and be with you in happy and sad times.

Rudre's post encouraged me to put forth my own opinion/preferences about my better half: 1) i came to US as a student, so ideally i would like if she came to US as a plain student as well, meaning by herself, without any support. 2) although i had scholarships right from the start from the school where i went and therefore did not have to engage myself in blue collar jobs (although i had to work my ass off as a programmer for my own department...many times in the night watchman hours), i would like if my girl worked her ass off as well to earn her own living. i had a hugeeeee crush over women who can struggle and who are tough, mentally. 3) i don't mind if she is from a different major. i being a technical person myself would welcome if somebody from a totally different field (journalism, sociology etc.) comes to my life. it would be an awesome combination. 4) i would like her to be intelligent and opionated. i would like her to analyze my own analysis on different issues, be it political or social, and find loopholes in it, point out my drawbacks and help me to get rid of them. 5) i would want my lady to be bold. if i had to leave her for temporary period, she should not cry over the phone and urge me to come back asap. although i would love to see her missing me like anything hehe... 6) although i don't drink much myself, i would love if she drinks. saturdays will mostly be a boozefest in our house. i would love if she acts wild and teases me after she gets drunk. i would tease her for sure in my own style. 7) i am pretty good at cooking, especially chicken. so i would hope my wife to not care a bit about kitchen stuffs, when i am cooking. i have my own style and i don't want poeple to interfere, not even my wife. 8) i am a very romantic person, and i have to sing a song (of course a romantic one) before going to bed. she must have patience to listen to my songs although i cannot guarantee if i end up with donkeys staring at me. 9) i enjoy long drives, and since i can drive with one hand seamlessly, even in interstates, i would like her to be ready to get intermittent kisses on her cheeks while i am driving. 10) i like adventures. i have done all sorts of things like bungee jumping, sky diving excpet scuba diving. i would love if my wife can do all those --bungee jumping and sky diving with me. Tetti ho. its not all that demanding, is it? :P LooTe

Oh I can already see a nepali version of "Sahib, Biwi aur Ghulam" happening in loote's life in quest of a wild wife hehe.... I hope you guys get women that not just meet your expectations, but surpass them as well.... But please pray that I don't get a husband this demanding.. That would make my life a living hell....

Loote, You don't have to cut off anything from the list.. I don't think you will ever have to compromise when it comes to getting your kind of a girl....You will get the best of the world... That's my confidence in you :-) Bibas ji: I'm doing allright... just a little busy with my studies... FYI, many of the cowboys are slowly turning into nepalibabus for/because of me... Instead of riding on horses, they are preparing to wash Bhaisi in the Trinity river... And please no more ranches for them!!!! They are learning how to grow "lasun", "chamsur" and "dhaniya" in the field.. You may wanna come and join us for our "Bisket jatra's bhoj"...
