That is his show. He can run it just the way he likes it, and after seeing his career, he has been admired. Otherwise, he wouldn't be around for all these years. In a casual meeting with the then King Birendra after Panchayet period, Vijay Kumar asked him, "How are you feeling to be a king of Nepal?" He is notorious for being nosy and crude. But in a society like ours, you can't drill anybody without having a couple of such qualities. He is an interviewer, his job not to be liked by people. His job is to reveal the truth when it comes to interview a politician and to make it more controversial, bold and entertaining when he is interviewing a celebrity. After getting accostumed to a different society you might dislike him so bad and so do I, but if you become contextual and think as if you were in Nepal, you wouldn't be objecting him. Because you have seen him doing the exact the same thing before and you didn't say anything and his interviews were highly regarded.

The only person that becomes controversial from his interviews is he himself. He is either admired or loathed by people after the interviews he conducts. But the very essence of those interviews, to reveal the person he is interviewing, to get as much credible and relevant information about the interviewee gets lost or forgotten due to the kind of characteristics he shows in the interviews. I cannot think of any interviews of politicians or celebrities in western country that I have watched where the interviewer has come out as more controversial than the interviewee. If this was to be the case, what is the point of the interview? Vijay Kumar feeds his ego in all the interviews he conducts thus failing miserably to gain the purpose of the interview.

And BTW, few months ago there was an active and interesting discussion on Vijay Kumar, his ethics, personality and ability. If anyone could search for that thread, it would be helpful for you guys to understand him more.

well i dont see any problem with interview. if we see in europe and usa they are always trying to find about sex lilfe of celebrity and find out personal details. they are film stars and these questions do come onto them its just natural. incase of this episode vijay gave enough room for her to not answer very personal question. the fact that we are all discussing him and his episode means that his episode got what he wanted. an ordinary interview program is not even talked about and is simply ignored.

usually in such interviews in the US, both the interviewee and interviewer mock each other. But it doesn't look funny or good when only one side is dominating too much.

I too have watched many of his shows. my general impression about Vijaya Kumar is that he is a wonderful person at heart. i still recall one of the shows where he interviewed a poor widow in a village who was living under massive hardship with her only daughter. The interview was really very emotional and it did bring tears to my eyes as well. After making a debut in the early years of inception of NTV, VK has certainly grown over the years. He used to be very rough, direct and knowledgeless during his previous years. Over the years he has establised himself as one of the better reporters in NTV...so he has come a long way, there is no question about that. I guess he possess a nature which makes him sound and look like a blunt and shameless person and that projects him like an egotist but in fact he is not. i don't know him in person, so this is just my reading of him over the years, a guess out of blue.
