Nepali students involved in sex trade in Australia' Nepali Embassy in Australia has suspected the involvement of Nepali students in Australia of being involved in flesh trade, Annapurna Post reported. Nepali envoy to Australia Yogendra Dhakal wrote to foreign and finance ministries on Friday stating the embassy had learnt that girl students from Nepal were involved in sex trade to meet their cost of living in Australia. Dhakal has urged the government to take this issue seriously, as it could take a worse turn in the wake of the global financial crisis. In the letter, the embassy has suggested the government to bring regulations for education consultancies in Nepal, orient Nepali students properly and ensure that they have funds required for the completion of studies in Australia before giving a no objection letter. There are about 17,000 Nepalis in Australia, according to the embassy. Hundreds of people who were working in good positions in Nepal have also gone to Australia to do diplomas in courses like hair cutting and cookery in the pursuit of PR, the letter states.

vname I have a LOT...I mean A LOT of friends in Australia even my best friend is in SYDNEY he and his friends struggled for a while but.................now they are doing OK as compared to some who are exploited by landlords to find groups of ten or more in an appartment, this is a fact not a mere speculation. Students are allowed only so much hours to work but if you have a dependant it is easier to earn money. So you say no bad neighborhoods huh?? well I guess my own friends were wrong because they told me that they lived in an area where the majority of the people were minorities from all over the world and most of them were Lebanese origin and they didnt feel safe......NOW Every country has a bad area and Australia isnt an exception my friend and crimes are committed everywhere in the world so why is australia an exception. You are right that australia is a great place to live...I have no doubt on that as many of my friends have good jobs and are doing great BUTthey tell me a different story about some nepalese who are struggling but I am surprised to the fact that you are ingnoring the fact that some NOT ALL Nepali guys and gals have a hard time surviving and finding a job. Life is not easy here in the USA too...its a struggle and to find jobs is a................ B it ch...Not all Nepalese are doing good here too and I admit this fact. But why do you say that in AUSTRALIA the jobs are plenty and life is great....If you are right than I am no doubt the happiest man in the planet I wish you all the very best success. BUT dont deny the possibilities that there are a few Nepalese who are struggling and desperate. Thats all

Well i have heard nepalese people stealing money. Heard about stealing a bank too. Getting into selling drugs. But guys how can you defend everything for a hardship. There are more than 50 percent young kids just in US who will say legalize weeds. They will give you a explanation that it is nothing more than a cigeratte whereas it has more medical purposes. There is no wrong doing just smoking weeds, its not like cocaine. So I do think there might be a very good reason behind this, but guys at the same time we should try to aware the people that it is not right even in hardship. So now what happen, i am pretty sure they are ashamed for their deeds? I know its not easy but think thousand time before you get into something bad. There is more chance of getting yourself into a worse situation then where you were. I am sorry for what happened but money is not everything. People who can come to a country like australia and USA as a student has to be a educated people. Please think very carefully. You can always go back and do something better.

What is the difference between prostitution in Nepal and Prostitution elseware. People who are condemning this should hear the plight of NEPALI GIRLS PROSTITUTING IN NEPAL ITSELF FIRST.

My people, posting mini essays on the internet does not make difference in society, if so after the invention of sajha, Nepali society would have been the utopin society with all the genious opinion floats around here. If you're so concerned about the well being of Nepali sisters in the USA or Australia, first thing you can do is to respect them. Let's start by voting to get rid of disrespectful pics of Nepali girls in sajha. Second, maybe we can write a letter or make aware Nepali parents about the hardship of living abroad by forming some kind of active group and not just arguing with each other in sajha threads. Trust me arguing with each others in here does not make any difference in the society. If you can't do anything, at least never brag about your fancy living in the usa or aus. that is what promotes this kind of sufferings for Nepalis.

There is no cause for prostitution in the foreign land. come on they are not sold in India. If prostitution was so simple and easy than why should we even bother about Nepali cheli being sold at India. Don't try to justify which is blatantly wrong. What will happen if their parents known their condition at Nepal. Will they be happy? They would rather want their daughter return back home then sell their bodies.
I say nothing can justify the wrong act. Stop if when people start denigrating Nepali Cheli in Australia. Nip in the bud this issue. If you want to justify every thing that there can be justification even for crime, killing , murder , looting money, extortion because everything is brought about by the situation.
Remember nobody forces them to be prostitute. Nobody says be a prostitute or i would kill you. No situation can be as bad as to force into the prostitution because they can always return to country. If you are talking about forced prostitution like the one in India I have a lot of sympathy. But in Australia , my foot.

dyamn, so many views and posts for apparently no real reason. just my 0.02 even if no one wants to read it or whatever. 1. authenticity of the news : who can substantiate if this is true? honorable ambassador did not offer any proof. common ppl. you have heard enough of these rumors from disgruntled guys when they are turned down (O: .... even if this is/was true: 1. freedom and individual choice: they are not forced into the trade i.e. sold, bartered or lured. they are doing it to satiate their individual needs may it be monetary or physical so its individual choice. NO POINT OF MAKING IT SUCH A BIG ISSUE. 2. GOOD JOB: at least they are earning their living rather than stealing or sucking blood of old parents back home and asking them to sell their hard earned assets or take out loan and making their conditions even deplorable in the process to satiate their individual needs. i would deplore it; if those girls were forced into the civilization's oldest known profession. since, it was their INDIVIDUAL CHOICES LET IT BE.... LEAVE THE ISSUE BE DEAD.... BECAUSE THERE IS NO TOPIC OF DISCUSSION. any btw, for those devout cultural aficionados. LOOK @ YOURSELF. hypocrites pos. how many times have you actually punctured your teachers' bicycle.... then talk about culture.... btw... how about eating sirloin? that's part of culture or religion?

Wow . Somebody is justifying prostitution by saying it is our culture. Another thing, when people go to overseas his work does not necessarily remain individual choice. Each person, I repeat every person is an ambassador of Nepal. The work we do is somehow associated with Nepal. In a whole it is giving Nepal a wrong name. Nepalese Embassy in Australia have rightly pointed out the problem. And what kind of proof do you want. Do you want embassy to name each and every girl? Embassy has right to draw attention of nepalese government. Infact even Australian government recognizes that. Nowadays they are only taking bank statement from one or two banks in Nepal because they know previously many documents were faked.

No Quiero, Why are there prostitutes in Nepal ? You think because they want to ? The act of Nepali prostitutes ok in Nepal and India not in other countries ? What sort of a half assed logic is that ? Prostitution is one of the oldest profession in the history of mankind. But people like you have been denying its existance since the begining of time. If some wants to make money off of it its their business not yours or mine. Who the hell made you the social police of Nepali society to come and say what is wrong and what is right ?

Bathroomcoffee, in your logic US government should issue H1B visa for prostitution. Nepal is our country and if you find difficult life in Australia then you can always return to Nepal. I know in this way many girls can avoid prostitution. Many girls in Nepal and India are forced to prostitution. Unfortunately same cannot be said about Australia. I am not saying it is right to do prostitution in Nepal or India but I am saying it is understandable why people fall in this trap. Why slur the name of the country by going overseas for study and indulge in prostitution .

no quiero, so what do you want to do? you think that status or situation in Nepal is any better for "girls" or "females". seems like you are in a cocoon and need to come out of the shell. if one can use it for their advantage and make themselves better; i do not think there is anything wrong with that. BECAUSE ITS ANOTHER JOB. you must have heard about girls who were/are prostitutes or exotic dancers and/or escorts who still managed to get PhD from Stanford (O: . i am sure now they don't have to do it anymore. its all about using what you have to exploit the opportunity. if that makes them to better their situation then its better than being touched; felt and gnarled in the public bus or tempo of nepal...... DOES THIS MEAN I AM JUSTIFYING ?? NO!!!! who the hell is the ambassador and nepalese government to define who can go abroad or not!!!! as long as individuals realize what they are getting into then there should be no restriction about what they can do.. my 0.02 1. government should provide education about what happens in foreign country. [ NOT BLAME OR POINT OUT GIRLS ARE IN PROSTITUTION ] 2. your faithful ambassador ( in my word a pos ) is generalizing or giving a LABEL to all GIRLS in AUSTRALIA as being involved.... 3. NEPALESE PPL in power should understand the IMPLICATION of what they are saying. 4. ITS NONE OF THE DYAMN'S AMBASSADOR'S or the GOVERNMENT'S business about what the people are doing as long as they are NOT EXPLOITED. 5 . GOVERNMENT was/is touting about the REMITTANCE and inflow OF MONEY. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE NEPALESE MEN are experiencing in ARAB countries and MALAYSIA. or even IRAQ and AFGANISTHAN. its NO LESS THAN BEING "EXPLOITED IN BEING SEX TRADE." i.e. psychologically they are abused; physically they are tormented. have you thought about working in desert for 18 hours. just because "HORMONES" are not excreted does not MAKE IT ANY BETTER.

"Who the hell are u? What is your problem? None of your business? It is a free world" mentality is the quintessential definition of Nepali's version of FREEDOM. Ask any son/daughter of a political leader about their mansions, lands and cars, you'll get the same answer. Seriously, who the hell I am? It's none of my business. As per your saying "some wants to make money off", this is none of your business to question them. What makes the leader's case different from this one? If you don't hesitate to blame these leaders for destryoing the country, what makes these gals as NOT destroying our image around the world? What ticks in your mind when anybody says "I'm going to Thailand"? Why do you think prostitution is illegal in US, as most Sajha basi are in the US. Why should US government be against your so called "free world" concept?, may be you should ask the congress to pass the law. After all US foster FREEDOM (am I right?), you should have no problem if you approach your local senator to fund the bill. It seems Nepali people have achieved the "enlightenment" to answer everything and anything in perspective with a simple question-Tero Bauko ke matlab? aka "What is your problem?" Personally it does not bother me, as per your belief "None of your business". But someday at a friend's gathering while I'm trying to glorify my mother land among all the foreigners, an Aussie comes to me and says " I've booned bunch of cheap Nepali hooker back home. They are plenty of Nepali slut out there". I would not be too proud with that. But then again you'll say "This has nothing to do with our country pride". By your logic, I should take the Aussie's word and be proud instead. If the news is true, the government did the right thing. So when exactly do you want the government to intervene? Wait till they get AIDS? You'll be then again pointing fingers at the same government if they die, blaming them for not doing this, not doing that.... My 2 cents.

Rewire its just shows your insecurity to be offended by someone saying he or she banged Nepali prostitutes in Australia. What if they said they went to Kathmandu and banged a whole bunch of Nepali prostitutes, and says there are plenty of Nepal sluts out there ? That is one asinine logic.

Bathroom.. tell me ONE country which is not effected by prostitution? As people have mentioned above, it is an age old practice. Exporting our dirty socks to a foreign nation and being proud of the smell, is the topic. Isn't it logical to contain the smell within. Spreading the smell can be hazardous and shows your lack of concern and respect for the neighbor. Don't derail too far from the topic and mix match logic. Again NONE of my business to what they do, it's their life. I'll be chatting with friends of few things we've left to talk about Nepal and I'll put this on on the top list. 1. Nepali Prostitute around the world. 2. Mt. Everest. 3. Gautama Buddha. I cannot wait to feel proud of all the achievement and spread the message of your beliefs.
