Brother Kuhire, the answer is very simple. they were peticoat because it's a tradition. I'was born and raised in valley and believe me sometime like 15-20 yrs back you could easily find women wearing peticoat and not other sorts of underwear within the kathmandu valley itself and u don't even had to go to the villages to know that..........it's simple that women wear fariya and saree which are in some cases are transparent too and for better covering they feel that peticoat is the best choice. with the time-span and better hygiene information, nowadays women do wear other kinds of underwear. It's just a matter of time that allows a tradition to mould on its own. I don't know why ppl are overexaggerating over such a simple matter. abt nepalese being sexually inactive, i believe it happened just in a way of making the society more well-mannered. By that i mean that ppl want to have control over their children's life until they are grown enough to understand sex.........they don't want teenage pregnancy like in US and cause social humiliation. Otherwise the societies before in Valley are very well depicted in the arts of the temples and museums if u didn't miss that out. You can see sex symbols and ppl in sexual acts carved all over the temples..........i guess that's an obvious way to percieve the sexually active society.

At first i had respect for Khuree for her help to poor village people in Nepal but now i think she's just another arrogant -ignorant who thinks she's a super human just cuz she happen to born in a wealthy country. sad thing is even with education and first hand exposure she did not learn anything about cultural difference. She thinks everything should run just her ways. looks like she wants those villagers to go get drunk and fk around and and have teen age pregnancies and divorces. her mind is corrupted with those late night commercials where to sell pills they say size matters.. . oh come on, she went to a remote third world country where 90 percent of the people are poor and she went to a village and worked with sick people and this sicko looked at their penises and cooters and probably smelled them too ;) and now comes to generalizing conclusion.. It's non of her business to go to Nepal and judge what Nepali people wear. Deep down she's just one of the racist ,arrogant fool who just can't understand why there are poor people and people who are not like her. and sad thing is she doesn't even realize that she's racist. she thinks having a irish grand mother makes her liberal and open minded , but deep down she's just an ignorant -arrogant fool.

A typical Nepali woman is very special. No wonder even Britney Spears tried to emulate one.

"During my two years stay in Nepal, I mostly met nice people in villages and cities who show extra hospitability and respect for Kuhires. In villages the men show a certain reverence which is very flattering. However, in the cities, most men think they can get laid easily with white girls. I was told by my Nepali girlfriends that Nepali men watch a lot of pornographic movies that is why they think it's easy to get laid with white girls. NO, we watch Hollywood movies in which there is lip kissing in every 5 minutes and that in our centuries old society is like a prono. We beleive in hidden beauty not exposed like yours where every female is ready to go to bed after couple of beers. Your culture is only 220 yrs old (ours is almost 5000 yrs old and we still treasure it) and that is also imported from Europe. You are nobody, you have no culture or history. You came here and slaughtered native Americans, took their land forcibly and sent them to reservation pockets. You tricked them, supplied blankets laden with germs and killed them, you killed their bisons-their lifeline and now you claim yourself an American. You took Texas away from Mexicans and now you have problem with them. You are so pathetic. You are not an American but decendants of Irish immigrant whose forefathers came here in search of good life. Your hands are tainted with innocent blood of redskins and somehow out of sheer luck, you happened to travel to such a nation which has a glorious history, never been occupied and you saw smth that was way beyond your imagination. You should stick your imagination to the hospitality and freindliness of Nepali people not what they wear.
"They are constantly trying to outsmart each other or trying to ridicule others whenever they get a chance. Even when they collaborate on a project, each one is constantly trying to bring others down or make fun of others. How can you hope to achieve something productive collaboratively if you are constantly at each others throat?" I very much agree with your above statement. I have had a very bitter experience with a fellowmen during a project. This runs deep in our society and has become a chronic problem which is slowly gnawing away our country. But this is our problem and eventually we will fix it.

Some of you have responded honestly while others have responded with their typical Nepali mentality and I have nothing against them. I am only expressing my opinions. I am sorry if that hurt your feeling.

yep, i can. BUT do u ever regret what your forefathers did to blacks, chinese and mexicans? man, if i were u, i would first apologize to them and worry about declining population of GRINGOS like u. you are becoming minority. i would first worry and fret about myself than go on making comments on others way of life.

Khuire. Did you talk to you maa , did her grandamaa wear J-string ?
How you know Nepali women do not wear underwear? Last two year you were in health post as a gynecologist or obstetrician ?

Traditional thongs aka "langauti" are very comfortable and popular too. You can make it from a piece of cloth with ease. totally customizable and non commercial. Definitely a must have for anyone visiting Nepal.

this bimbo went to Pashupati ,saw some aghories and came to conclusion that Nepali men wear things like thong. she didn't think maybe those people do not represent the Nepali male in general. what a waste of all those education and study abroad money spent on her , that they didn't even make her humble ,sure it must have given her a degree but it surely didn't make her educated. next thing she's gonna ask is if we eat human flesh?this is the height of stupidity...this is how racism is practiced now a days. they ask you offending and degrading questions but they act like they're ignorant. like do you take shower? have you seen cars before? do you know how to eat with fork? === new ways of practicing racims under the umbrella of ignorance.
