 Hello freids,
I will be getting married in few months and i would like to know the costs of wedding in Nepal. How much does the best Band Baaja cost in Nepal ? and how about the Party ?
I am thinking of Band Baaja and Panche Baaja....If you have any idea about how much they cost, please share with us.
How much would the wedding cost total ? I've 20 Lakhs (Nrs) and i don't know if that's enough for what i am planning.

Thanks.

@bittertruth, what conclusion you came to?

I am also thinking of getting married soon before I become budo boka, but kt paauna gaaro chha re nepal ma, satya kura k ho saathiharu ho?

Financial costs of marriage events/ceremonies in Nepal are grandiose to say the least and the grandiosity has no great reason be it so. When I'll do mine I'll be mindful of it.

I'm also "ripe" for marriage but I have fend off constant cajoling by my parents to get married for about 2 years or so.
At this point I can no longer hold off constant cajoling from my parents so I'm leaning towards getting married.

My question to Sajha-ites is did anyone who recently or in a recent past had had trouble or issues with your (now) wife because you had had ex-girlfriend(s) while you were living here ?

I'm not with any of those ex(s) anymore but still girls have tendency to feel jealous and insecure which may become seed to all kinds of headaches after getting married.

price has decreased , because of lots of competition, it used to be above 500 per plate now i am seeing ppl doing reception together bothe boys n guys, @ 200 per plate , all in just one day, it will save more than it used to cost while marrying in temple.

@easyname,

that sucks. See these days girls are materialistic. I am happy to be single. I do not know eventually if i will get married but when i decide to in the near future, i will have a hard time getting a girl also haha. As my conditions would be 1)no kids 2)very simple wedding in mandir,
i do not think any family would agree to that let alone the girl. But i will stick to what i believe in.

Anyways, hope you find a good wife soon.

I knew this beautiful girl once. She was rich but left her rich parents and went to live a life poverty style with her husband. They had no house but living on rent. There was not enough food but she was happy to sing....... Hey wait a minute. Sorry guys, it was actually a movie i watched when i was young. I still remember the song. They dont make girls like them anymore....

That is simply not true. 12-15 lakhs is a VERY mediocre  wedding. Why? Well I'm from a upper middle class family, I've had 4 of my cousins that got married in  Nepal the last 2 years-both of which I have flown to Nepal for. My thulima told me the first brother that got married's wedding was 'decent' cost her 50 lakhs. Here is the breakdown:

Radisson ma party: drinks/food/ decor everything included 25 lakhs (had lots of guests mind you)
Dulhai ko ghana: aba this depends on your family tara in my family its 9 sets minimum (some are smaller sets that cost 2-5 lakhs some are bigger 5-12 lakhs)
Now one diamond set from ganepati jewllers or other recognized brands are around 11 lakhs for a bigger piece.

Dulhai ko luga: Listen every women in Nepal wants Oodhani boutique or other famous boutique ko luga. For a heavy bridal saree it starts at 25000 rs to 60000. Aru ta ja pani kiney huncha but for the engagement,mandap and reception you will need very heavy pieces.

That was on the decent end. My other cousin brother got married recent and spent nearly 2 core (he was the only son). Depends on how lavish you want to make the engagement, akal people have starting doing mehendi and sangeet too. But honestly you dont need to do all that. If you JUST concentrate on diamond sets/gold sets, clothes that she wants to wear not what your mother has picked out for her and a good reception at Radison or Soltie it should be good.

My guess: atleast 40-50 lakhs.

Its not the girl thats Materialistic, it the soceity and the extended family. 'yo manche le k bhancha laaa uniharu k bhanchan lauu'. PS: how much you spend also depends on your family's status.
Lower Middle class 5-15 lakhs
Middle class-20-40 lakhs
Upper middle class=50-100000 lakhs
Rich:100000+

Khai tyo ta tha chaina. I am using the northamerican definition of a middle class hola. I din't live in Nepal that much so malai khas tha chaina what the scene is there. I can only tell you what i've seen with my cousins. Honest answer matra diyeko ho according to what she said. One of my other cousins owns a wedding planning agency in Nepal and all of the Radisson/Soltie weddings start at 25 lakhs with them. Ani jewlery ra luga is obviously on you and not the wedding planner. So think about it maybe a banquet is better in terms of price.Tara banquets are pretty small hai fufu ko eauta cha banquet I find its useally not big enough for weddings.

If you can afford Raddison or Soaltee then you are in the upper class.

@lovelynepaligirl,
Your other cousin's mom is just telling you a lie that she spent 2 crore on her son's wedding. Does she even know how many zeroes are in 2 crore?

I cant understand how ppl think it's worth to spend like 20-30 lakhs on your wedding. I will never spend that much money for wedding. I would rather go for a nice honeymoon all round the world. (25 Lakhs = $35000, there is lot more things to do with 35 k besides getting married)
