Hey people... by looking at the stories posted by other sajha people.. I recieved an inspiration to write something of my own.. hehe THough it might not be as good but bear with me..
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After spending two years with my parents in the USA I returned to Nepal and was admitted to Modern Indian School. The impression of the school was well known, but my grandparents believed that CBSE was much recognized than the nepali board. My first year there was an average? but my sixth and seventh standard sucked. Though I did manage to pass in the finals, I never really made it in the first and second terms. Hindi- which was a new subject for me, was so difficult that I never managed to pass. Plus I was scared out of my pants of the teacher. Her hobby was to slap me in class. She totally loved it, and as a result I became less confident and became more timid. I did not find any motivation to study Hindi.

Though I was popular in school, as I was the only student that had been to states, but my confidence decreased everyday. I felt more and more inferior and sometimes would wonder why my friends liked me. As a result my grades suffered even more. My parents were back from states and they were noticing my dilemma. It was a different story for my brother. He did not suffer from any inferiority but he started bunking his classes and his grades suffered too. So in the year 1996, when I was 12, my parents made a decision that would affect the rest of our lives. We were to go to India. I loved to read the Malory Towers by Edith Blyton, so was totally excited to go to a boarding school. I kept fanaticizing about how it would be.

There was an incident that almost changed their decision though. In November of 1996, I went to feed my dog, as I loved dogs like crazy. I don?t know what he was thinking but he plunged at me. I felt a drop of blood in my right shoulder and realized that he had bitten me. When my grand parents saw that my ear was bitten they started panicking and wanted to rush me to a hospital. I didn?t understand why they were so fanatic.. but realized how serious it was when my grand dad shouted,

?How can we go to the hospital without the piece of her ear???

The dog had ripped out half an inch of my right ear. Our helper found the piece of my ear near the area my dog was, and we rushed to the hospital. My parents had gone to my cousins place at that time. As my grandparents had some bad experience with Teaching hospital, they took me to Bir hospital instead. We were told that the piece could not be stitched back. Had they taken me to Teaching hospital, it would have been stitched back immediately. So as a result I had to have plastic surgery from a group of Plastic surgeons traveling from the US.

As my dad is a doctor, he took me to several places taking shots.. and man that sucked.
Though a lot of other things were fun like chocolates from relatives. The surgery took place on December 1996, 2 days before my finals, but I managed to pass. On January 1997, my dad, mom, brother and me took a trip to India to find the institute where we were to go? And so the journey started that would leave an impression in my heart for life?

As I had mentioned above that our founder father of the school that I am writing about died in a helicopter crash a few days back, I am posting this in hope that his soul rest in peace. Seemed like a nice thing to do... as all the memories I have of the school was possible only due to him..:(. A very sad incident.

la ta laamo break pachi arko small piece.. hope u guys like it.. more later..(hopefully)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once, during our 2nd terminals, Anisha was wrapping some gifts for her friend. It was her birthday and Anisha decided to give her 17 gifts for her 17th birthday, and wanted to wrap all of them in different styles. Some like a robot with eyes and ribbon hair.. some like a computer.. we were testing our creativity. Needless to say that we had our Math exam the next day, we were expected to study. After trying to make everything look pretty we started trying to make everyone look pretty. Me, Sharmila and Anisha started putting ribbons, papers and everything on each other. As always forgetting that we were supposed to keep quiet, we started playing and as usual the play got out of the room.

As our victim would always be Anisha, we started kidding around with her. We really don?t know what got into her, but she started running in the corridors shouting, ?Sanju maam bachao!! Bachao!!? Well when you are all quiet and in your room and hear someone?s cry for help, you tend to think something is really serious. Sanju maam?s instinct told her to run as fast as she could and come to the help of the needy.

But when she did come up to our corridor, she found us giggling away and putting ribbons on one another. As soon as we spotted Sanju maam, we stopped everythin and stood with our head stooped low. Man was she mad at us. She came to us and started scolding us. She was scolding us individually, then slapping us, then move to the next person. I was the first to be slapped that day and then Sharmila. When it was Anisha?s turn, her face turned all funny. She had never been slapped on her face. Though the bal sudhar was not unusual for her but she had always avoided slaps on the face. But today her cheek would encounter with Sanju maam?s palm, and it wouldn?t remain virgin anymore (LOL).

Anisha was so frightened that her face was all distorted and funny. And now came the ultimate time when the hand and the cheek met. The ?never been touched? cheek has now received the impact? she had had her first time, that was a pivotal moment and her cheek was not ?untouched? anymore. I can still remember Anisha?s face. Me and Sharmila were doing our best to control our laugh, it WAS difficult. Sanju maam then proceeded to the other rooms in the corridor to check what other girls were doing. About 3/4th of the hostel were slapped that day because of us. But as soon as Sanju maam got out of sight we rolled to the floor laughing as hard as we could. Anisha?s facial expression was the ?hot topic? for about a month. But that day we could not waste a whole lot of time laughing. We had to clean the room before Sanju maam could see the mess.

As I am in work today and have nothing to do, I thought that the best thing to do at present would be to post some new story of mine in sajha. And I dunno why but the sajha chat and the msn from this computer doesn?t work!! Maybe my managers din like me coming to chat from here?. Anyway back to India. So where was I?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sweet memories? always there inside the heart and whenever you try to open it up and see the pictures that are stored there, a feeling of nostalgia engulfs the heart like the great ocean engulfs the white pearly sands in a beach!! Every time I think about my school days, that?s what exactly happens to me. I still remember the games period we had.

As we HAD to choose one sport or the other and then play it daily and master in it, I had no choice but to choose something I liked. My friend and me were aimless souls and would choose anything that would let us out of the teacher?s loop. So we found something that did not have any coaches involved? table tennis. We had no coaches for that and it was the easiest game that we could play. We had to be out of our rooms for games at 6 pm during summer and 4:30 during winters. Even in the evening of 6:00 pm we would sweat like crazy. It seemed like someone had poured a jug of salt-water on our shirts and left it there. After reaching our hostels, the sweat would dry up and we could see the small clusters of salt from the sweat deposited on our brows and hair. It was hell during the summer, it seemed like we were burning in the devil?s flame.

The good thing about TT was that it was indoors, and we did not really have to play. We only pretended to be playing when a teacher would drop by to check on us. But later we discovered that a lot of teachers liked to play TT. There would ALWAYS be a teacher popping in for a challenge. We knew NOTHING about the game and our Physical Ed. Supervisor discovered that there was a new interest amongst students to play TT. He did not leave us after that.. even in the 5 min. walk from the hostel to the TT room, we were not allowed to be idle. We had to bounce the ball in the TT bat all the way. We had to learn how to play? so slowly Sharmila and me started learning how to play the game.

We started enjoying it so much that even on Saturdays and Sundays when we had no games period we would go and play. After every time we spent some time in our new interest our T-shirts seemed like we taken it straight out of the laundry and worn it wet. We had to wear a cotton loose T-shirt of any kind, a white PT skirt and sneakers. If we did not wear PT skirts, the other piece of cloth we had on would be cut to shreds and the shoes thrown away. We had to do it right. We would wear different colored shirts and by the end of games period, the shirt would turn to a darker shade due to our perspiration, except the small part in the back of the T-shirt where there would be another strap of clothing between our skin and the T-shirt.

Out of all the teachers that liked to plat TT was a teacher named Abhinash Sir.. who played as if he was about to fall down any moment. He would start crying at the smallest provocation. I remember, once w hen he was dining with us on our table, he was making too much noise with a bunch of student who had a major crush on him. He was about 26 years old, and all the girls literally dotted on him for a reason unknown which was weird because we were all basically kids. Well, that day they were making too much noise and I sort of was not in a good mood. All I did was to tell him to quiet it down a bit and it greatly hurt his feelings. Now my friend Anita was his best student, and he went to her and started complaining and crying. He said ?I did not expect Rythm to do that, she seems to be such a nice girl, why did she have to tell me to quiet down?? I did go to him and said sorry and of course the apology was accepted but I never had the same respect for him. Every time we talked about him, I would tell my friends to not make ?the baby cry?.

Anyway the main point was that he would come to play and act so funny. I cant deny that he was a superb player but rather than playing his focus would go to his positions in front of the table. Every time he was not there, I would copy him.. sort of jump around and take my face real close to the table and as the ball came near me hit it will all my heart and will. Well that did get a huge laugh and thank god he din really see me do that. Din really want to upset the baby again!! But well that was that? can never forget those days.. the games period, the fun.. the laughs.. and the immense heat that made my face unrecognizable with rashes. I lived the goods and the bads of Hissar, but the nice part is when I remember it, it is with a smile on my face, not a frown on my brow!!
