Who knows about Canadian Immigration? I heard that it's easy and more precisely less time consuming than U.S immigration. On top it's not that expensive and most people from Nepal with 4 years degree plus some years of work experience do easily qualify? Can you guys elaborate on this topic and help each other. Thankx

Tax system....works exctaly like in US. If you make money in canada legally file taxes too...but if you never worked in canada it doesnot matter. But it doesnot hurt calling canadian embassy in Washington DC just to double check it. Ok...folks it look like the week is over and will see you guys at Mt Everest Restaurant Tomorrow... Peace

Lambdu Dai replied to Harikancha, that once you get PR, you must enter Canada by the expiry date quoted in the landing Visa. That's a Wrong info. You can defer your Canada entering easily. The first landing visa will be invalid... but you can always request to issue another visa (this should be done earlier than your expiry date of first visa). Then they will ask you to do medical again. your medical check up is valid only for one year. That's why you will have to do again if you are planning to enter Canada later.

Nice chat going on! I also have some questions. First of all, what is the process to travel to US as a PR holder?

Well...when I had a PR back in 2002 May I was planning to take summer school and i called the canadian Immigration thats what they told me i.e I got to enter canada with in certain date that gave me unless they change their rules since then thats a different story... and for glden window you got to go and appy for a visa in US embassy or consulate if you juist have a PR but if its a canadian citizen you can show it up at the port of entry before you enter USA. Peace

Yes, I know several poeple who did that. It's no big deal. Once you are approved... then no more hassles... all you will be asked is to do medical again. People don't want to do again medical fearing that they may fail the checkup. But my frens have done this and they faced no problem. One of them landed in Canada himself... but then he brought the wife after more than one year.... although he got visa for both of them together. For wife, she was asked to do medical again. Oh you need visa to go to USA from Canada if you are Canadian Permanent Resident. Go to US consulate and apply for visa. If you have job in Canada, take dociument to show them, it will be quite easy to get visa. If you have no job.. there is no chance you get visa to travel to USA just being Canadian PR.

If you can show you have a house in Canada... then also it;s easy to get US Visa. In that case you may not have to show that you have a job in Canada... but without a job how can you own a house and paying all that mortgages.. haha

Oh prem u r 100% wrong about having a job and being quite easy to get a visa. I came with this when I applied for visa although I had a job working for Apotex pharmaceuticals ( Canada's biggest pharmaceuticals), but you got to prove the consulate that you are coming back to Canada instead then you can get a visa.

That's why you better show you own a house!!! I forgot to mention one thing.. simply by showing job in the name of working at McDonalds flipping burgers or workign as cleaners in a damn big company may not assure you US Visa. Officers at US consulate know very well that people who are working at McDonalds and approaching Consulate for US Visa will sure would perhaps may not return back to Canada. Jon ta job, kasto job?

Beware ! Canada is the only country where foreign doctors are shit here, except few. Even Readers' Digest, Canadian issue Sept. 2004 issue agrees. While there's shortage of doctors here. First, try to get as much information about the lives of nepalese here. Even to get a menial job, you should know somebody - 85% of jobs are hidden. I'll say you are lucky if you get a menials job after six months of your arrival. I know a guy who suffered so much here mentally that he was paralysed after a train tumor. I just want to caution all because it is not what it looks like...

Nepali bhai....where ever u lived after 18 years of age ..you need to file it but when u say that I didn't have to file the while i lived here in US for 6 years though. So your best bet is to contact the Canadian embassy in DC...if not u can apply and if they need it ( Police report) they will ask you which results in delaying ur paperwork....and to get a police report from Nepal .There are 2 types of report 1. is to go to overseas and other one is for one who is already living overseas. So you fall into number 2 catagory. For this case you need to go to local body i.e pokhara and they will do your report and sent it to kathmandu and will issue you one that is your final copy i.e the one u need to mail it along with ur paperwork . I hope I answer your question. Anyone has any comment.".Let me hear" "Peace"

In another word, You guys suggesting that just apply for tourist visa as a visitor (however, I have no intetion of over staying in US) once you have the good earning job such as working at Abotex by Lambu Dai. I am truly visiting US to my relatives. As a matter a fact, Lambu dai, you might be my mentor. You know why? I also have tons of experience working on pharma industry. I am no pro as you are but I have worked as a CMR ( certified Medical Representative) for Glaxo Smithkline in Nepal. Is it going to be helpful to haunt for good jobs in Canada? I am residing in Toronto. Thanks for you time.

Golden window, Iam not trying to be an smart ass here but Its apotex not abotex.. If I was you i will keep seding them resume. All your experience counts. The best place to look for jobs are workopolis.com or www.jobsearch.gc.ca. Let me think if there were any nepalese working in chemistry in Toronto while I was there. I just can't recall them at this time but what I can do let me get back with my colleague there and see what they can do for you. Good luck in your job hunt. Peace

Nepali bhai, There are more indians every where in IT than any other nations. I also know that there are 2 Nepalese working for IBM Canada personally. So my conclusion is YES there are jobs in IT in canada too. Just don't loose your hope. Peace

Hey suna didi, i remember talking to you long time ago, you know angie auntie and mike right, have u heard from them? i wonder how the kids are? i am chandra's friend btw and oh you were saying your daughter might attend mcgill ? does she cuz that's a great school right in the heart of montreal heheh. Along with the job opportunities, the education here is also great. It's just as good if not better than the american institutions and we pay wayyyyyyyy less than them. We also get tons of gov't loans although there are some that abuse it. I know few rich kids that dont even need the loans but they somehow lie and get like 10 grand a year from the govt and then invest it elsewhere cuz you know you dont' have to pay back the govt or the pay interest until after 6 mnths you graduate. it's kinda smart in a way but you're still cheating the govt. anyways, aside from the tax and the shitty weather, canada's a gr8 country. I personally love sunny weather so after i get my degree and what not i plan to move out west or down south :)
