The mirror answers: "The moron rabies dog is the creepiest and stinkiest. And he thinks adding 'HA HA HA' to his stupid comments makes him funny."

So what if the Indians are doing it ? Do we always have to follow their trend ? Why can't you just let these kids be kids. Why do you have to mold them into this and that. Let the kid decide what he or she wants to be(if they want to speak latin, french, ebonics or whatever). If the child is going to live here, whatya expect ? You want him to speak Nepali all the time ? This is a really STOOOPID ARGUMENT.

The biggest irony of this thread is that the topic starter itself decided to use ENGLISH instead of Nepali. No pun intended but I guess speaking Nepali is little harder and not so hip to use for young generation. Nevertheless, learning and speaking Nepali on regular basis is important as mostof us know the importance of bilingualism..I, personally, feel comfortable to communicate in Nepali with Nepalis..it just feels real. Later.

This is a stupid discussion. It's like asking why don't Nepalis wear Dhaka topi. The answer is that they will wear it if they want to.

Bangali Damini Well I'm not living this life to promote any culture or language or religion or any political or religious idea. I wont care if others will feel the same way as I do or not. After leaving Nepal, I spent allmost all of my life with friends and people who had very little or no knowledge about Nepal. Allmost of all of them had not a heck of an idea about the existence of Nepali language. They didnt care and I didnt feel it was any important to explain about it either. I already know about Nepali language and there is nothing more to learn about it. I rather chose to learn and know about their language, culture and their way of life because of a very fundamental reason, that is, now I was living amongst the new culture, new language and new way of life. Speaking Nepali and expecting to get anything out of my new surroundings was not the best thing to do I guess. So I believe the question about why people do or do not speak Nepali outside Nepal comes down to one simple question. "How useful it is amongst your new surroundings ?" All the other concerns like "Is it important to preserve Nepali language ?" will take a back seat.

it's okayyy, Jeesuss, *sigh*, BathroomCoffee, what's up with you dear, you need love and sympathy, I see you swearing, using foul words, cursing, snapping and all these stuff all over the threads :P, has life been treating you the same way or sth?, you desperately need help, a psychologist would do or some love too :P, you cud just ignore the thread, couldn't youu?? stop fightinggg, calm down and dont swear for no reason to rockon_gal, she's just askingg this appropriate question, you dont need to snap for no reason , god, has nothingg to do with youuuuu!!!!!! I am nott saying this in a rude wayy, just to let you knoww, you need to stop swearing and yelling out for no reason, calm down or get helpp! Btw, I think Nepali kids dont speak Nepali because of the environment, the school and friends, I think it especially depends on the school and peers but my cousins understand Nepali, they just hesistate to talk nepali and not so good at it but hey..lol they do understand and CAN talk nepali tooo.. Parents should be talking to them in Nepali at home, that way they'll learn and talk nepalii, don you think?/? It really isn't so biggie about Nepali kids not talking Nepali because they WILL somehow learn and talk nepali anywho, it's alll gooood!

Bd ji, Okay what does identity, respect and mirrage have to do with kids speaking in english? I seriously could not understand (As you were were directly stating your views to me, I could not understand what relation does my post have with them!).. I am not trying to mock you or anything like that! I dont think kids that speak in english think that they should respect Americans, hence speak in English. The main thing I wanted to say is that people are making a fuss out of people in foriegn countries for no reason when this 'tradition' of speaking in english is prevalent in Nepal itself. As I have mentioned in my first post that there are factors such as school and social group that influences the first language of a child! And about the identity and all that. Well I do not think there is any problem with that. People might not respect other Nepalis!!.. well we only have respects for people who deserve it right? If there is someone worthy of my respect I would go ahead and respect him/her.. irrespective to his/her nationality. Most of the Nepali people here are bound to do things that make us lose respect for them. I know I am out of topic here, but then I think that every indvividual should be treated according to their actions and not by their nationality.I am sorry if I offended you in any manner, but I did not see any point in you posting the whole identity crisis, mirrage theory and respect topic in this thread. Why not let people do and be what they want instead of pointing fingers for any and everything they do! If people just stop looking at what others are doing and WHY they are doing it, their own lives would be so much better!

I really wouldn't care if someone is from Libya or Zambia or Vietman or Argentina or from Germany and I really dont care what language do they speak in their native country. I'll only thing I care is if they can speak a language which that we both can understand. I dont think belonging to any paricular country and speaking any particular language will make any person any better or any worse. I dont believe just being Nepali or being able to speak Nepali will not make me any special than any other person belonging to any other country with their own native language.

Ejuram... We are not discussing about "Traditional Dress" of any particular ethnic group. If you can read the very first comment of this entire thread I hope it will make you aware of the fact that the discussion is about "LANGUAGE" NOT "Traditional Dress".
