So here's my attempt at being religious. Swasthani serves a great deal of importance for Nepalese people around the world. Some, however, do not have access to it. So I thought, why not make it available for everyone? So voila, I thought of an idea: put the Adhyayas (Chapters) online. And that's my project.

According to some, if we come to US, and eat beef, we leave our culture back to Nepal. Then I don't see the point of Nepalese coming to US.

The thread was just about 'swasthani' being available onlne. If someone likes celebrating 'halloween' and believes more in goblins, witches, fairies and elves, it doesn't mean that he has to express it by denouncing some culturally revered thing like 'swasthani'.

Even if he / she believes in the materialistic principles of 'Charvaka darshan' and is an atheist, he doesn't have that kind of right to denounce something which is revered by so many people and hasn't caused any kind of harm (unless he / she is 'mentally deranged'). And I don't think anyone has asked about his / her views about 'swasthani' (the title of this thread doesn't indicate that).

I fail to understand why someone keeps on repeating the same attitude of bashing something he doesn't like, in each and every thread and just keeps on posting some irrelevent crap everywhere like a broken record.

Health doesn't mean just being physically healthy. As per the WHO (current day), one can be healthy only when he / she is physically / mentally / socially and spiritually healthy. The 'spiritual' dimension is a recent addition, and it wasn't added just like that, without any purpose. So someone who is 'socially' and 'spiritually' unhealthy must at least get his mental status checked by a shrink a.s.a.p.

Cultural tolerance would be better than to contempt others action as long as that doesn't hurt anyone. Intolerance has caused communal tensions, global wars and terrorism, and it needs very small fire to ignite it. I guess Sayami understands this but he is doing it for fun. If I hadn't known you better through some of your other contributions to Sajha, which are very creative and good in thier own right, I prolly would have chosen to react differently to your comments. I must say I am suprised at the tone and tenor of your criticism - especially coming from someone who has done a good job of separating the wheat from the chaffe in the past.

You do give good examples of hypocricy but do a poor job trying to link the people on this thread to that hypocricy. What do you know about Dr Bee that makes you think he eats beef?

Also, has it occured to you that maybe people are reading the swastani not so much to seek forgiveness but to continue a story telling tradition that has spanned generations in many communities in Nepal? If repentance was all people were seeking, there is no dearth of things they can do - temples, dhams, yagyas - you name it.

I understand your point but feel you have chosen the wrong example to bolster it.
